The June 1 Xara Xone Guest Tutorial
The June 1 Xara Xone
Miss Devious (Madalynne Crowe) really delivers the goods in this Guest Tutorial. And yes, the car may only be made of pixels and not Detroit sheet metal, but the effect is very real as well as very realistic.
Great job Madalynne!
Your comments, questions, and feedback are always welcome. These Guest Tutors put a tremendous amount of time into these tutorials and generously share their knowledge. And for the first comment, I will just add, I certainly learned a lot. :-bd Thanks Madalynne.

I admit I had a head start. ;) But it was a really fun tutorial as well as a great learning experience.
The really cool trip is dragging the named body color into the Color Editor as suggested and then modifying the color. I went all over the Color Editor before settling on gold and black.

It's one of the things I really enjoy about creating a color specific to be used for the colors of he car, it makes coming up with the best color a LOT EASIER to do - not to say anything about it be just being fun to play around with. lol
Great work on the color choice, although I would have selected a dark shade of gold - but that just me. :D

Thanks xtom, Thank you Pik.
@ Rik - Oh No You Didn't! The "Mary Kay" Special? Really?!? LOL ;)) It looks good.
Pink? Hey, whatever floats your boats. That would not have been my first choice - even for a girl, how about the color Peach and some different graphics? Yea, that could rock and still be feminine.
 *giggles* ...pink ;))

It's pink for a girl, isn't it?!
Oh well. I might as well go with the colour I was going to do first.
My first car was this colour!
The colour was called 'Le Mans Green'
Not sure I've reproduced it accurately enough but it's pretty close!
There was no 'bunny' logo on my car but it seemed to go well here.

Hey Rik,
You're right, something is not right about the color(s). The colors reflections do not look natural. :/

You don't have to tell me Madalynne.
I was not happy.
So, here's another go at it.
Hopefully this is a bit better!

Re: June 1 - Xara Xone Guest Tutorial - Automotive Paintjob Makeover - FREE!
Rik, I hate to say this, but, All of the colors in the car paint just do not look right. If you would please send me your .xar file so that I may look it over. From what I'm looking at in the final images the 2 you recently posted) there appears to be something wrong with the order of the layers in your file, I'd like to check it out. The car paint layer may not be located in the correct location of the layer gallery.

Re: June 1 - Xara Xone Guest Tutorial - Automotive Paintjob Makeover - FREE!
Well, I'll have another go as soon as I get a chance and if that's no good, then you'll have to look at it.
But the problem may well be in the layers.
I hate layers.
That's probably why I cannot do anything in PhotoShop. ALL THOSE LAYERS - it's jut me, but I hate them!
I'm much happier when I can move things backwards and forwards myself, rather having to go to a layer and then moving the layer.
Don't get me wrong, layers are probably very useful for a lot of people, but not for me.
I can cut, copy, paste, duplicate, whatever, right there on the page.
I'm sure someone will put me right about layers! ;))

Re: June 1 - Xara Xone Guest Tutorial - Automotive Paintjob Makeover - FREE!
Layers are great for keep certain things separate OR to keep parts of your drawing in order from far to near. If the layers are out of order, then that would explain what I'm seeing in your final images. I realize you hate layers (I did too at first) but when you get the hang of them I'm pretty sure you'll love them. Some of my xara creations are huge and I really needed to learn how to use layers to keep things keep and looking correct.
You'll get the hang of it. Just let me know.

Well, Thank You, and You're Very Welcome.
As for the wheels, if you follow the link to my final image of the Mustang ("American Thoroughbred") you can see that I did paint the wheels as well as many other modifications.
FYI, the same process works for the wheels, but the wheels require fewer layers to to look right.

Rik, I did this for Stygg, and I'm offering this to you as well. If you'd like I'll be happy to take a look at your .xar and see what's going on and see if we can't get you back on track.
Hey Stygg, how was the help I offered you?
