Helo folks, this time *I did had* a bit of time to do some artwork for pleasure http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif So, here I'm with Lakshmi, a goddess from India about love, wellness, prosperity and so on http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif. All Xara X1 and underwork now, still working on the face. This time everything is Xara, even the body and hands which made me have some nice headaches, hehehe... and of course, hair http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif, two headaches for it.
Hope you guys like it

Yes, wonderful work, Aram!
I especially like the clothing - nice folds and details.
I'm sure she will be stunning when she gets her features.
Thanks for sharing!

Aram, This is my all time favorite of your work so far!! I love the Indian God's and Goddesses. The spirituality of the Indian culture rings so true in so many ways with me.
Lakshmi looks just beautiful so far. I look forward to seeing her completed!! I think I need to go pray now!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Blessings and good fortune!

Well, I feel like burning steps. Before go further in my experimentation I like to really master what I'm discovering or learning. In all my previous work I have shared here, I went from shapes filled with bitmap textures and masked photographs and now I was able to go a bit more ahead and adventure a bit by doing a body and hands --well, four hands, so good "training" there http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
I would easily made it with Poser for instancem but my main purporse is to make them all with XaraX and also for the pleasure of learn. In this case, it was really complex http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif More than geishas and the japanese house...
Thanks guys for the nice feedback!
Aram
p.s. eh... what about hair? I have been reading some posting here... I made some search on google trying to find a "hair generator" with vector output, but nothing http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Perhaps Access could do something like that and his terrific L-System implementations?

Hi Aram,
I think that the style that you are doing this with is fine for the hair as well. If you look at the image, at least the size that you posted, it looks just fine. I don't know what it looks like up close so I can't give you any pointers that I might have to share. Perhaps post a 'study' of the image by zooming in on the hair and taking a screenshot of it so we can see it better THEN I/we may be able to advise you better on this area! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi Aram,
I am struggling through doing long flowing hair myself. Try drawing lines with a preasure profile, then convert the lines to shape. Do a fratcal fill and transparency on these shapes.
Richard got me started on the right road by giving us his tip on base, dark and hightlight hair color tip.

Richard, John, thanks a lot for the comments!!... I'll post a close up within minutes. I knew something about what you are talking about but thing is I can't really get it look natural, as from a 3D software, for instance. Right now I'm investigating and experimenting if I can actually export hair "props" from Poser 5 as vectors so we can paste it on XX and do the coloring, etc...
Anyway, the final thing is here... I think the head itself is a whole separate project http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Arum - thanks for sharing this project with us. I think the hair looks great as you've drawn it. What I note from the details is that the face seems to be drawn more photorealistic than the remainder of the drawing which has a more graphic style to it. I'm not sure if that difference is problematic or not. When I look at the overall image my eyes are drawn to the face -- that is probably as it should be and the highly realistic face no doubt has someting to do with achieving that focus.
