Re: Resolution problems i think !
Not sure I should let you design my website if you have to use Menu Factory to create your menus. ;)
Glad you got it all sorted out.

I don't know Gary
Looks like some pretty cool software!
Why can't Xara come out with something like this?
Pricey though.

Re: Resolution problems i think !
You may or may not be aware that your website is invisible to most search engines. This is what most search engines will see (using Lynx as a reference). No navigation, no internal links:

You may wish to consider a text-based version and/or a site map

Re: Resolution problems i think !
The source from the link in post#1 looks like normal Xara exported HTML to me Frank.
Markup validation finds a few issues with the flash navbar though:

If this guys site is invisible to SE's, then there's a heck of a lot of other people's sites in trouble :(

Absolutely.
As the saying goes, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".
Re: Resolution problems i think !
hi thanks for the info - all the markup problems are with the live chat placeholder - I must admit I do not know a great lot about SEO and the workings of search engines - Think Im going have to learn though - are you saying by having them flash menu's in it is a bad thing ?? - If I want good seo arent I better doing the site in Wordpress or Joomla although my knowledge of those is very limited - anyway thanks again you have given me something think about

If the only menu items on the page are embedded in a flash file, that is a bad thing. Create plenty of internal links on your home page within ordinary text telling search engines where to go. They don't see images or Flash in the same way they see text.

Using Xara software in no way makes your site unsuitable for good SEO practice. What's important is knowing what to do and what to avoid. Here's a good start:

SEO is a wide and complex subject, but it's an essential skill for all web designers worthy of the name. It's not a black art by any means and all of the information is out there for those willing to learn. Creating a beautiful website is only part of the battle. Creating engaging and informative content is just as important and getting people to look at your web pages is absolutely essential. Define your USP and focus on it using all of the tools at your disposal: graphic design, creative writing and search engine marketing.

I have no idea what you re talking about there Frank.
My post pointed out that your preceding post didn't quite make sense. The source for the OP's site as linked is fine. IOW: Nothing wrong with it. You asserted that it was invisible to SE's. In my opinion, it is not invisible.
Re: Resolution problems i think !
trukkerz site is invisible to search engines because there's not a single visible link on his home page to his site. It's quite irrelevant whether his html validates or not. His home page may well be visible, but the site is invisible to search engines.

I'm sorry, this was obvious to me (maybe only to me)...

I should add as a qualifier the following:
Quote:
Flash Web sites tend to be one of the poorer types of Web sites in terms of SEF (Search Engine Friendly). Many of the search engine spiders/robots/bots/ crawlers cannot read the contents within the File file (.SWF). Till Date, Google and FastSearch are able to read the URLs or Text within a Flash file. That is why it is important when creating Flash sites to also create a simple but text rich HTML Web site for spiders and for Web users that prefer the less eye-candy media. After all it is totally dependent on the website owner to take a call for the website development.
There are several ways to use Flash within a site’s design that can help reduce the negative qualities of the Flash files. The first method is to use a partial flash site and partial HTML site. Many sites opt for this solution because you can have the eye-candy with the benefits of the HTML site. Here, there banner can be made in flash & the rest of the part can be made in HTML. Second method is to create a splash page that gives the user the ability to choose either an HTML version or a Flash version. This solution is very common as well. The spiders will crawl (no pun intended) the HTML version while your Web visitor will be dazzled by the Flash version. The third method to combat the illegibility of the Flash files is to use the noscript tag or noframe tag when using a flash only site. This is however not the good option and one should only use these tags when there is no other option.
About noscript tag – The <noscript> tag is used to provide an alternate content for users that have disabled scripts in their browser or have a browser that doesn’t support client-side scripting. The noscript element can contain all the elements that you can find inside the body element of a normal HTML page. The content inside the noscript element will only be displayed if scripts are not supported, or are disabled in the user’s browser.
If the URL links in your Flash file are image text or your hotspots are defined by, for example, tabs and not text objects your Flash file cannot even be read by Google. In any event, a Flash file is not to date read by any other search engine.
Run your website through this Search Engine Spider Simulator to see what links it picks out to follow (but bear in mind the Google addendum):
