nice one, Penny.
Looks quite authentic to me! Excellent work
Looks good to me!
Nice stitch effect Penny :thx
Very nice and colorful. It's in pretty good shape for being so old. ;))
Penny
Thats very good, beautiful in fact. Genuine looking.

Very effective Penny :)
Good one Penny.
It's lovely, Penny.
Saludos,
Bob.
Impressive effect, very well done.
Can you post a larger image Penny. So we can get the full effect.
Splendid image.
A very nice tapestry Penny.
Thanks, everyone! Here you are, Gary. The stitching effect is just transparencies. The hardest part was sticking to the colour palatte that I wanted - I made that first, the intention being that all the colours would be from vegetable dyes. It's not quite right but fun to do.........Penny
Thanks for the larger image.
Beautiful Tapestry Penny.
First I have a complaint: The picture you attached is not big enough and does not show the whole beauty.
Second: Any chance of telling us how you went about making it?!
Cheers.;)
Rik.
That looks great Penny, I enjoy looking at the old tapestry's at the museums. I like the harmony and colors you used. Well done, I could see it hanging on a wall in an old castle.
Penny, that's one fantastic tapestry. Thanks for posting the slightly larger view. Is there any chance I can get you to post a close up view of a small section of your tapestry so we can carbon date the fabric? Sorry, I mean so we can better see the detail and evaluate your skill as a weaver of fine tapestries. ;)
Mighty fine,
Harry
Thanks for kind comments. Rik, I hope the attached explains. It's just a matter of drawing the separate elements and arranging them on the background, then adding the 'stitches'.
Harry, I loathe needlework in any form (blood and tears as a child) so creating a virtual tapestry is bliss!!
Penny
Thanks for the explanation Penny.
I had a feeling that it was some sort of an overlay, but not exactly what it was.
I will have a go to see if I can do what you say.
If not, then I hope you are ready for questions!
Lovely, Penny. Thanks for the mini-tut :thx
Oh Penny well done, this is wonderful! I love the look of your tapestry and the pretty birds and flowers. =D>
Hi Penny.
I tried creating the Black & White Plasma repeating fill with 70% Transparency.
But, I couldn't get the same effect as you can.
:(
Rik, here's the .xar file. Hope that helps!
Penny
Yours looks so geometrical - like a grid. I also was not able to accomplish this until I looked at your xar file and see HOW small you have the plama scaled to. I thought surely that was it, but then I noticed that there is also a Live Effect on that shape (after seeing that it was colored yellow, I knew I wasn't looking at the right things - so I look in the page a layer gallery and I see the Live Effect - Painting there, inside that, the grid looking selected thing.
A little more digging - the "newsprint" preset seems to be it.
Hope this is helpful for those trying to reproduce the effect.
Love the detail Penny – right down to the hanger.
Mickie
Hi Slavelle, Thanks for trying and your comments! I didn't use any Live Effects, tho you're right about the yellow....... I experimented with different colours for the plasma fill, and inadvertently posted the one using black/pale yellow. The final one was black/white - there is no noticible difference.......Penny
Penny - don't want to be argumentative, but I just downloaded the file you posted again to make sure that I didn't somehow mess it up. And there is definitely a live effect "painting" on there and when you remove it, you see the yellow plazma fill below.
Can someone factcheck me on this?
Hi Penny.
I've tried again and again to create a screen like yours - Fractal Plasma fill and I've pulled the handles in as far as I can to try and get the effect and changed the Transparency to 70% and so on.
But there is no way I can get the effect you have in your attached file.
:o
Any chance of a few detailed steps to get me going?!
Yes Scott is right, there is an LE 'Painting' effect applied.

It's easy to forget steps when you're concentrating, I've done it many times.
But you can get close to the weave effect using the plasma fill only by holding ctrl as you bring the fill handles in and playing with the start and end colours.

Many, many apologies, Slavelle, and many thanks to Steve. I should have checked it. Because, yes, of course I used the 'Painting' LE. It's been a WIP for months and I'd completely forgotten. Aging brain problems..........Hope all ok now.........
