As Xara points their flagship application closer to Photo and Web designing, let's remind ourselves that vector space has some special magic with bitmap fills.
We all know about the 'heal' and 'clone' tools of the bitmap editor world, but it's been shown many times here at TG how Xara Xtreme can equal and in many cases better them.
Non-destructive editing, fast and fluid workability is also where Xtreme pulls ahead.
Here's a photo version of the 'Find the missing objects' game that used to be so popular in Newpapers with cartoon drawings.
12 objects have been removed from the bottom copy of the photo using Xara non destructive methods only.
Compare it to the top photo and see if you can find them all. Some are easy, others may take a keen eye ;)
What to do:
Mark the missing objects on the top copy (you could use a 50% transparent red ellipse shape), crop it from the bottom copy and post it here (max width 800pix).
Good luck. :D

Not bad for 2:30 in the A.M! :D
I remember you posting challenges like this last year just before the release of XX5 - you get edgy waiting as well don't you :D

12 objects missing from the bottom photo and one actually added ;)
I've posted it here so that those still a-bed or working can still have a go after your hard work Steve :D

Re: Can you find the missing objects?
Good idea John, thanks
By the way, there's 13 - I miscounted >:)
A friend of mine pointed out that it's easy to use photoshop and subtract one image from the other which shows the differences easily
I pointed out that it's no fun at all that way and would quite simply be cheating >:|

Sledger.
I take my hat off to you.
This is exactly the sort of thing I want to do but don't have a clue as to how to go about doing it. I wasn't aware that Xtreme could do it. I've been struggling away in Photoshop!
Are there any tutorials or videos?
Do you have any instructions on how you did this please?!
:o

Re: Can you find the missing objects?
Sure, and I'll even throw in an extra one for good measure. ;) There are at least 14 missing objects and 1 cat added to the photo. That's even counting the two missing people and the bench on the second floor (photo center) as 1 missing object. Could there be more?
I found all of the missing objects in the racetrack photo, too. Since John already posted a solution I won't upload mine.
[1] clone original photo
[2] draw freehand shape over object to remove
[3] select shape and cloned photo, press Ctr+3 to 'intersect'
[4] select the fill-tool and drag fill to find matching area
[5] feather object slightly
[6] group with original photo
Repeat as required for other object removal.

Re: Can you find the missing objects?
Thanks Harry for finding the 14th object I missed counting. Funnily enough, that particular object was the first one I removed. Too many Sunday interruptions :(
To should keep John a little busier I'm not going to mention how many missing objects there are in this one >:)>:)
If he get's this one nailed too quickly, next time I'll leave out the original photo :p
14 now! Conspiracy! Nah, my screen needs cleaning ... and my glasses. Can't you do another of those revealed-in-parts blurry puzzles you did last year. Liked those. Couldn't do them, but liked them :D

Re: Can you find the missing objects?
You first captured my interest trying to find the objects but after watching the suggested video tutorial, I had more fun trying to remove the objects that you did. I had seen that video tutorial about a year ago but did not see useful application until I see what you did with the photos. Great job by the way. You need to have a skillful eye to see other areas to replace your objects with. Great job removing the couple from the banister. It took me a while to figure out how you did that.
I love Xara. Every day I find something new that Xara can do.
Thanks for sharing,

Re: Can you find the missing objects?
22 ? Where's the evidence? :p
Apart from the fun aspect, the idea for the thread is really as mentioned in the OP.
Rik has picked up on this well and Psaumure (Welcome to TG by the way) has been motivated to try himself.
I think John and Harry are just too good at this, clearly I'm not trying hard enough.
If I get time today I'll throw one more in - perhaps something a little more difficult like a photo of fog.

Evidence? Who needs evidence?
OK, here's my proof. For those that haven't found them all, or haven't yet tried, no fair looking.

Re: Can you find the missing objects?
Haha.. Very good lads..
Yes John I think you're try a bit too hard. The red taxi for example only had the passenger side door mirror removed.
This technique of course works quite well in the reverse, that is - to add objects to a photo.
Here's a quick rough'n'ready example of what I mean.
The photo's used were all slightly motion blurred which helps in this case.
Well, there's only one original Flying Fox in THAT photograph. The other is from another photo ;)
Additions are harder to detect it seems than 'subtractions' :p
To wind up this series of 'missing objects' I came across this photo of Newcastle Beach (NSW Australia) and immediately saw some potential for a missing objects exercise.
They're all very well done Steve. 17 for this last one?
PS There are 11 bats Steve, not two! :-)

Re: Can you find the missing objects?
John, I've found 19 items so far and I've only been at it for about 3 minutes. I'm sure Steve, in all of his deviousness, has a lot more missing items buried in all of that minute detail.
Steve=>:) (They say the Devil is in the details, or NOT since they've been 'rubbed out' in this case.)
