Brush Problem
Hi there everyone, I have attached an image of an ornament that has a solid background, when I save it as a brush you will see that it looks totally different. You can see the difference between the two images of what I mean.
I have not used any transparency effects only a circle with a gradient ciruclar fill.
If there is anyone that can throw some light on this for me I would appreciate it. I successfully exported such items as brushes in the past and had no problem.
Thanks for the help.
Kind regards

Re: Brush Problem
Hi Barry
does it have to be vector?
if you make a bitmap copy and create a brush from that it will work - you will need to take out tile fills in the brush fill properties tab

:D
oh no, genius I aint - hyperbole methinks :p - but thanks - glad to help :D
when you use bitmaps for brushes you have to bear resolution in mind - so if you are intending to use the brush at different sizes it may be best to create a brush for each size, rather than draw the line and resize afterwards...

Re: Brush Problem
This should work as a vector brush which is much better than using a bitmap brush - if you post the XAR file I can probably tell you why it is not working.

Re: Brush Problem
Forget my earlier post - it looks as though you have found a bug/feature in Xtreme. I recreated your line and got exactly the same result.
I first tried duplicating the shapes and converting the line round the larger circles to shapes grouping this with the original circles with no line, same result.
I then tried creating a brush with just those circles grouped together - line set to 0(zero) I still got the same result as if Xara was remembering the line and using it anyway. The only way I could create the line with just the 2 basic circles was by re-drawing them.
Creating 2 lines was the only way I could get this to work as a vector brush.
I will log this with Xara and let you know what happens.

Re: Brush Problem
Hi BP
Like Christine I could not get it to go in vector - I thought it might be something to do with having a custom brush inside another custom brush...
If you can get it to work - great

Re: Brush Problem
I think this can be that you have one brush created applyed to circles and groupe them and you want to create brush from this groupe, try my xar file i redrawed your objects as only shapes and circles, grouped them and create the brush of this groupe. Maybe that could help you. regards BP

Re: Brush Problem
I was playing around with the .xar file Barry posted. I noticed that a brush was part of the ornament shapes.
I recreated the shapes using a blend rather than a brush.
Next I converted to Editable Shapes and ungrouped the original blend on a curve for the two larger ellipses. Selected all and group.
I created a brush but to my surprise it does not look like the original shapes. :-O
One attachment shows the original shapes I used for the brush. Another attachment shows the Brush at about 300 pix to show the brush shapes. The .xar file with the brush is also attached.

Re: Brush Problem
Yes Bill, that is what I wanted to say, and in my first post i said too I recreated Barry Drawing without his xar file, and i did the same like you bland of circles, converted to shapes, and made the brush of them. I think this methode is better. Sorry handrawn and Chritine you are right. Barry´s Xar file gives me the same result like yours too. but i made the brush with only shapes and blends like Bill.

Re: Brush Problem
I have managed to create this as a pure Vector but only by using duplicate circles, you need to create the circles with no line and then add the line only to the top one.
I will post the file in the brushes forum
Here's a link to the brush file
