Flying Wing
This was an illustration I did to see what this Armstrong Whitworth flying wing design may have looked like if built. The design idea was put forward in the early fifties but the A.W.56 lost out to the other British V bombers. The aircraft are vector while the background is a raster painting.

Re: Flying Wing
Extremely detailed and realistic!
Even ailerons are positioned correctly for the banking. :)

Re: Flying Wing
Fabulous work as usual, Gray. Especially considering the plane never existed. We are privileged to see it. Are the vapour trails raster?
Saludos,
Bob.

Re: Flying Wing
Gorgeous work on this plane. So much detail...amazing.

Re: Flying Wing
Thanks all for your positive comments. The advantage of doing a "what if" is you can't get the details wrong since they were never built. The disadvantage is you have no references to work from except your imagination.
Bob, the contrails are raster. I usually use vector in the main subjects and raster for the landscapes or backgrounds.

Re: Flying Wing
What can I say, your work is always outstanding.
Incredibly realistic Gary as usual.
Congratulations

Re: Flying Wing
gray,
Your images always amaze me. You put an incredible amount of detail on the surfaces and always get that "painterly" look in your illustrations. The horizon curve and colors are gorgeous too. Another masterpiece!
Congrats.

Thanks Javier, Miguel for your kind words.

Re: Flying Wing
Yeah, look...it's alright I suppose...
;)
Exceptional, as per normal Gray. I thoroughly enjoy the more obscure aircraft that you illustrate. The "what if's" are as interesting as the classics IMHO!

Re: Flying Wing
Thanks BR. I've got a few more "what if's" to do on my list.:)
