Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Hello,
Every time I move my mouse over a button, logo or link on a webpage generated by web designer - my video freeze and when I move the mouse over to a blank area it start playing again. The video was embedded using the place holder and selecting replace with HTML code.
This happen for both FLV and SWF video. Any ideas will be very helpful!
I’m using Xara web designer 5.0.1 7886DL
Thanks

Thanks for your reply.
When you unzip the file and open the index file. When you press play on the video and then move your mouse over the any of the blue or black buttons ,the video freeze in internet explorer etc.
I created a square in web designer, went to web properties and pasted the code in Replace with HTML code (see code below)
Then I got the problem explained above.
Now I tried a different approach , I created a plain page in web designer went to the view source and the pasted this same code below in the page and everything work fine, it seem using replace with HTML code add extra code that doesn’t not make my video work well.
Any help will be great.
Thanks

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Create a 300x270 pixel placeholder object then open Web Properties>>'Placeholder' tab and use the 'Replace with flash' button to add your SyncVideo.swf
It can be anywhere on your HDD because Web Designer will create a copy for publishing.
Xara Web Designer will also create the necessary embed code.

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
OK -I have found that while the video doesn't stop playing for me under any circumstances, the audio does when the mouse is hovered over any other object on the same page layer which is a live link.
The solution is to have the video placeholder on it's own layer.
See attached demo file for details and further explaination.

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Hello,
Thanks for the attached .web file sample. For the project I’m trying to do that solution will not work because after using a play movie button or link it bring up the pop up layer and the video start playing now if I click anywhere on the page or try to scroll down the video (popup layer movie) disappear and I have to click on the play movie button again to load it.
One thing I notice is viewing a .web file using the EXPORT & PRIVIEW WEBSITE, which is a basic version of INTERNET EXPLORER , it has all the previous problem I stated in all my post. Now after I export the website on my desktop I tested it in this browser - ( Google Chrome - it work fine ) , ( Safari - it work fine ) , (Fire fox - it work fine, just very little time it freeze, not noticeable )
( Internet explorer - the same problem, not working , even if I put the video on it own layer )
Very few time it freeze but the major problem it the lost of sound, while is still playing!
It just seem like the output from web designer his friendly with many browser except Internet Explore
Thanks for all you help, I’ll keep on trying other solution.
I’m very stuck on the problem and can’t move forward
Please any more ideas, will be great

This isn't a problem because it is solvable using the Locking Popup Tweak which prevents the popup layer closing until a 'close' button is clicked.
The Locking Popup Tweak is part of the free TweakSet available here.
Also TG Member SPudmachine created a short video tutorial about how to use the Locking Popup Tweak:

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Another way to prevent it is if you can do without a MouseOver layer on the page that loads the video. Delete this layer and it works perfectly. It depends how important roll overs are for your project.

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Thanks.
Is the a way for the video to automatically load and play instead of clicking a button to play the video? for example using a sitepal avatar on your webpage, where the client visit their website the video/ avatar automtically load, not clicking a button to load the avatar?
Thanks

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Depends on the player.
For example with YouTube you modify their embed code to this:
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DiFq_nk8pE0&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x3a3a3a&color 2=0x999999&border=1&autoplay=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="660" height="525">
</embed>

Roll overs are very important for my project.It will not look nice if a webpage doesn't have a rollover effect especially for client.
Thanks anyway
Anymore ideas will be great!:confused:

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
I showed you the solution in post #7 and the tweak in post #9. Did you try it?
I also answered your question about autoplay in post #12. Did you note this?
A link to Xara Support is in my sig.

Hello sledger,
Yes, I tried all your suggestion, which may work for other project, but for this one it will not work for example visiting a website’s home page and a sitepal speaking avatar (www.sitepal.com) load and greet you e.t.c . The tweak you suggested involved a trigger event (pop-up) were a button has to be clicked before the flv/swf video load and play.
I’m open to any more ideas!
Thanks for you help!

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Hi rico77 - just to be clear, in post #12 I showed you the code modification for having a youtube video play automatically.
What I didn't stress was that you need to isolate the <embed ---through to ----- </embed> section and delete the rest (the <object code).
Firstly this cures the 'stopping' problem when hovering links, then adding the &autoplay=1 to the source URL forces the video to play automatically.

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Hi,
I have a similar problem to this in that I want to make a single page that will show a selected video from a list. I get this to work but clicking anywhere on the page removes the pop-up window with the video. The user has to scroll the page so this is a real problem.
I have tried using the tweak routine for locking a pop-up and get an error on the page when I use it with my Placeholder (option: replace with html code). My video's have controls and must be run using html code like this in the placeholder:
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" align="center" width="640">
<tr>
<td ><object id ="flashMovie"
codeBase ="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0"
height ="497"
width ="640 "
classid ="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" VIEWASTEXT>
<PARAM NAME="_cx" VALUE="26">
<PARAM NAME="_cy" VALUE="26">
<PARAM NAME="FlashVars" VALUE="csConfigFile=videos/video1_config.xml">
<PARAM NAME="Movie" VALUE="videos/video1_controller.swf?csConfigFile=videos/video1_config.xml">
<PARAM NAME="Src" VALUE="videos/video1_controller.swf?csConfigFile=videos/video1_config.xml">
<PARAM NAME="WMode" VALUE="Window">
<PARAM NAME="Loop" VALUE="false">
<PARAM NAME="Quality" VALUE="high">
<PARAM NAME="SAlign" VALUE="">
<PARAM NAME="Menu" VALUE="-1">
<PARAM NAME="Base" VALUE="">
<PARAM NAME="AllowScriptAccess" VALUE="always">
<PARAM NAME="DeviceFont" VALUE="0">
<PARAM NAME="EmbedMovie" VALUE="0">
<PARAM NAME="BGColor" VALUE="#FFFFFF">
<PARAM NAME="SWRemote" VALUE="">
<PARAM NAME="MovieData" VALUE="">
<PARAM NAME="SeamlessTabbing" VALUE="1">
<EMBED id ="EmbedflashMovie"
src ="videos/video1_controller.swf?csConfigFile=videos/video1_config.xml"
flashvars ="csConfigFile=videos/video1_config.xml"
quality ="high"
bgcolor ="#FFFFFF"
width ="640"
height ="497"
type ="application/x-shockwave-flash"
pluginspace ="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
</EMBED>
</OBJECT> <br></td>
</tr>
</table>
I believe that I am defeating the locking pop-up code when using the above placeholder.
Finally my question: how can I lock a pop-up window and prevent clicking to close it when also using the html placeholder option with the tweak feature?
I could not get the example in this thread to work either. Get a runtime error.

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Welcome to TG Forums,
Firstly you don't need the <table <tr <td ir <br tags in a placeholder for the flash movie. The (WYSIWYG) HTML export filter takes care of this with div code.
Second, the locking popup tweak should not be cancelled out by any of the above, so my guess is that you may have a mistake somewhere.
Please attach your *.web file so that it can be checked.
Finally, which software are you using for the flash movie HTML output?

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Thanks for your help! I removed the <table <tr <td ir <br tags and your right they are not needed.
Here is my .web file for your review.
My video files are created using a program called Camtasia.
I look forward to any clues on how to fix this.

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Thanks for that - before I go any deeper with your file, the first mistake you have made is choosing the *wrong template* for a web site.
You have used the Blank Photo template which amongst other restrictions means [a] there is no page size and [b] you cannot add pages.
Please correct this to use a web page template.

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
I will correct that and see if I can get further. Thank you!

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Hi,
Here is a quick new example. Use the "show video" to show the movie. Use the "close video" to get the error.
If I clear the placeholder with my html, the two buttons work as expected.
Thanks again. I know its me but I don't know how to fix it.

No error here (all browsers)
'Close Video' closes the movie1 (named: movie1_GB) popup fine.
Possibly the Camtasia code has introduced an error, but without the Camtasia files I get nothing.
I don't have it installed on this W7 machine, but I have a feeling there's way too much code in that placeholder.

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Yep, too much code.
Just installed Camtasia 6 to test this out again.
You only need the code between the open and close <embed tag (inclusive of tags)
Attached is an exported result from Web Designer (run index.htm) when using only the above code.
Also included is the *.web file to show this in the placeholder.
So strip everything back as shown and see how that runs for you.

Re: Video problem using xara webdesigner.
Sledger thanks for your help. With some more experimenting I found my error when using the tweak "locking pop-up" layer with my placeholder html.
I was making one new layer (the pop-up one) and putting the placeholder in that one layer. The way it needs to work is like this:
1. one layer (named video1_BG) that contains the video object on top of it.
2. A close button to release the locked pop-up (javascript:my_close('video1_BG').
When I made them as 3 objects instead of 1, it worked!
Thanks for doing all this work for me and testing my module.
