Great shots Graeme. I like the luminescence of the greens.
Takes me back to my early teens when I worked for British Rail in Kent.
Thanks Sledger.
I missed out on trains as the local railway line was closed in the Beeching closures. All that remains are a few bridges. It would have made a very scenic run when it was open.
Very good exposure and nicely framed Graeme.
Not many viaducts in Australia and here in Far North Qld, not many trains!
Great photos Graeme. The colours are sharp and clean through out the images.
Thanks Sledger and Soquili!
I have visited that viaduct many times as it's a great little beauty spot - even in winter if the sky is right. I think I've photographed it to death!
Again - great photos - I'm feeling very inadequate right now..
The Montrose Viaduct (the portrait shot) is especially pleasing.
Magnificent bridge shots Graeme.

Thank you Sledger and Rupert. I think I'm rather fortunate in that there is nice scenery around me and much of it is readily accessable. Unlike an artist, I rely on the good will of nature to fill my canvas!
Hi gdavidson,
Excellent Shots. Is it the real shots Or you have modified in the Adobe photoshop.
Thank you Salaam! Indeed, avoiding the usual overcast gloom we get is a bit tricky. However, sometimes even bad weather has its moments!
Thank you too Micheljonshon!
I photograph in camera RAW format and "develop" in the images in Nikon's Capture NX software. I don't use Photoshop to edit the image, rather I use it to run scripts to resize and sharpen the images to the intended output size (sledgehammer to crack a nut!)
The most image processing I do in Capture NX is to bring out lost shadow detail and to restore colour balance. I do try to avoid blowing highlights and often underexpose to compensate, bringing up the dark areas in Capture NX. Think of it like a very subtle and genuine looking HDR process that represents better the way the human eye/mind sees a scene. I will use gradient filters on the lens from time to time if the sky is overpowering.
It's taken me a huge amount of time, trial and error to learn how the camera sees and the way it differs from human perception!
The Northwater Bridges are obviously very photogenic.
Running out of superlatives here.
Saludos,
Bob.
One from the late Peter Ditchfield collection
Nostalgic picture Clive - it is a shame to see these graceful machines fade into history.
It is I was a footplate fireman from 1956 to 1963 at Bury Lancashire 26D
Great photos Graeme! Nice contrast & great color!
Clive, I imagine you'll have very fond memories of those times... I envy you!
Thank you Bill! I have good light and weather to thank for many of my photos :)
I hope this winter brings some nice colours and skies.
