Did you add them to x4 plugin folder?
Did you setup paths?
Did you check enable host specific plug-ins?
The default location for the filters has changed for 4.0.
They go in the Program Files > Xara > Xtreme (or Xtreme Pro) 4.0 > Xara Picture Editor > PSPlugins folder.
If you install Alien Skin and Eye Candy from the Xara site using the default settings the filters get installed in the wrong folder. So when you do an install you have to make sure to specify the XPE > PSPlugins folder.

Others have reported they did this and they still don't work. Please let me know. I contacted Alien Skin about this and they sent me back to Xara.
I've got - working - Alien Skin stuff installed in XXPRO4/filters. Try making a new folder, install to that and add the path with the Live Effect Tool, Setup button on the info bar :)
Hi,
Some older plugin versions will search for photoshop.
So i have a folder called photoshop in programfiles and have the plugins install to there.
After all installations of the plugins i copied all 8bf(and some others with a folder structure)to a folder called xaraxtra and have the xtrempro plugin setup
point to this folder.
No problems with reinstalling anymore as i have the plugins outside the structure of xara and will not be uninstalled after an uninstall of xara.
Also handy if you use other apps that use the plugins aswell.

Hi,
how did you get to work  ?
I tried to change the Plugin Folder settings, but is does not work.
Alienskin Xenofer 2.1 does not install itself at all. Just after entering name & Licence the setup says that this Plugins Requires Xara installed (!!)
Regards.
I had a problem similar to this when 3.2 was released, and I contacted Alien Skin who sent me a new install file that worked for the new Xara version. Maybe this is what is happening here? I'd contact Alien Skin and tell/ask them.
I repeat - Alien Skin is sending people back to Xara regarding install issues with X4
I don't have the special xenofex for xara but the normal version for photoshop
that's why i can install it anywhere

I have both the Xara version of Xenoflex and Eye Candy 4000 and after installing tonight, BOTH of them worked even though I did not install them in the standard plug-in directory. I did add this non-standard directory to the plug-in settings of the options panel.
I'm not sure what you mean.
Unless you have a completely different XaraXtremePro 4 CD to me, aside from setup.exe, there's no other stand-alone installers on the CD except except Xara trials or PanoStudio.
The AlienSkin4000 /Xenofex 2 plugins are automatically installed when you install Xtreme4 to:
C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Xtreme Pro 4\Xara Picture Editor\PSplug-ins\AlienSkin\Alien Skin Eye Candy 4000
(along with AV Bros / Medhi and Redfield)
They are unpacked and installed during the main XXPro4 setup routine (setup.exe 62.4MB) and do not even appear as a selectable option under 'Program Components' (user defined installation) - so I have no idea what you could be referring to when you say 'i went to install the Alienskins plugins'?
IOW: AS400/XF2 should be automatically added to your available plugins within Xtreme without any other action necessary from you.
My suggestion would be to unistall XtremePro4 entirely, reboot, disable any AV and registry monitors then do a complete full re installation of XtremePro4.
