Well done, Mr. Dickman.
This was well worth the wait. The DRAW community thanks you. Not sure about the Harry Potter community, however :-)

Let's leave HP out of it, shall we? His presence is already far too widespread.

Brilliant, the speed
Gary,
Please explain the Harry reference, I didn't realise the current UK mania for J.K. Rowling's creation had crossed the Pond.
I still think Terry Pratchett is better.
Peter
I agree with Gary! Although it takes a bit of navigating to get around, I miss the ability to see the message I am replying to as I do so, sometimes I forget what I read and have to go back and read it again and again and.......:)oh well, I have a work around.
Chris is there going to be a freelancing discussion or are ya going to drop it?
I like the profile thing, so far it seems like most people are afraid to tell much about oneself, I think it makes for a better conversation to know a little bit about who you are writing to, I hope I can get to know a little bit more about the folks that frequently visit, it makes it a lot more fun.
All in all it looks great.
Nice going man!
I, for one, am a Harry Potter fan, although I do (theoretically) purchase the books for my 50-year-old sister. Unfortunately, the cousin with whom she's living thinks HP is the work of the devil, so my sister has to hide the contraband.
So who's Terry Pratchett and why is s/he better?
BTW, re the forum, I do miss the post preview and the ability to reply to a specific message in a thread, but the speed is wonderful.
...Well, the speed was wonderful until I tried to post this reply. Perhaps the forum has just become the "in" place to be on a Friday afternoon.
And, Mike, you can see the previous posts if you scroll to the bottom of this window, below the Post Now button.
As long as I'm on the forum subject, how did I come to be in the CorelDraw forum? Thought it was Xara. (Suspect I may have wound up here by clicking a message in the "new posts since..." list.)
...And while I was waiting for the forum database to become available (yet again) so I could complete this post, I checked out the UBB Codes help. Very nice, but there's a typo in the Ordered Lists example that renders the example incorrect. (According to the text, TYPE=A should product a list ordered from A to Z rather than a numbered list as in the example.) Oh dear, perhaps I should stop poking about. Who knows what lurks beneath the cover of the new forum? :-)
Now, I will try to post this message for the fifth or sixth time...Ah, success!
Yes, I'll be adding one.

Maybe we should add a British children's magic/mystery story conference?
Seems to be more interest that for CorelDRAW.

Is there somewhere that I can read an explanation for the new format? My intitial impression is a major step backward. Hope you are well, Chris. Just saw Space Cowboys. Does that relate here?
Bob Wright
Bob:
Not sure what you mean by an "explanation". What kind of info are you looking for? Also, not quite clear on the Space Cowboys reference.

The Space Cowboys reference was a bit of weak humor, what have you done to my space (interface)?
Miss the ability to see the message I'm replying too. (OK, have work-around)
Miss the frames which allowed me quick maneuvering. Am I missing some customization here?
Registration and profiles I applaud.
Bob
I'm with you on missing the threaded messages format, many users have requested this, so if the forums developer makes this available, I'll be the first to use.

This forum software appears to be the same type as most other areas I visit on the Net.
I think we will have to get used to manually referencing previous messages in the overall message topic until the forum software developers come up with something better.
Incidentally Bob, you can view the messages in the message topic as you compose the message, if you scroll down the whole page a little way, you will see a framed scroll box that allows you to view all the messages in the topic.

Bravo for the speed improvement, if not for the rather unimaginative assumption that every response is to the whole.
Chris, if you're really writing from I-can't-quite-pronounce-it, France, then it's no wonder you didn't get the reference to a current American movie about old fogies who come to the Earth's rescue somewhat indelicately. (Presumably even you have a sense of humor.)
In any case, I'm curious whether oddities like spelling apologize "apologise" (on the "temporarily unavailable" screen) and "changes must be made within 1 hours" are Continental affectations that we're going to have to endure, or plain old typos?
Again, congratulations. The old appearance suddenly seems pre-historic, and that's half the battle.
Steve:
Did you hear the one about...
>(Presumably even you have a sense of humor.)
The new forums software is from InfoPop, located in the Good Ol' US of A, so my guess is rather than being "continental affectations" on my part (difficult in any case, my being Canadian) these can more likely be laid at the door of local lads who are better at coding than spelling.

Well put, sir.

LOOKING GOOD!, The new I-US is a great improvement, I'm familiar with the format as it is very much like the Letterhead site.
Sorry I haven't been too active as of late, but, you have me back now!
Excellent site Mr. Dickman!
Gary G.
Well, from the old lady in the crowd, even though I only get here 3 - 4 X per year... I liked the old layout better. Never had problem with (speed), time???? Was much easier to read the thread than this. And not sure which if any, icon to use. Ha ha ha.

Okay, maybe I'm a dummy...
Chris, this is just to let you know that my home computer sees the old forum, not the new. I use NT4 and Explorer 5.5 at work but at home I'm more adventurous (insane?) and use Corel Linux and the latest version of Netscape. I don't know if this is a Linux issue or a Netscape issue, but if it's the latter then you might need to address it.
(People have asked me why I use Linux at home and I explain that it's for the same reason that I bike to work.)
Ziggy (or is it the artist formerly known as Steve )
I had the same problem, our office internet connection is vectored through the web-cache proxy at our ISP.
I didn't update my favourites links and relied on i-us or whoever to redirect from the old forumns to the new. Sometimes it worked most times it didn't.
I deleted the favourite shortcuts to the forums and navigated to the new forums from the i-us homepage, I used the link at the top of the page in a box announcing the new forums.
I then recreated the favourite shortcuts once I was going straight to i-us.infopop.net.
This might be the problem, then again...
Peter
Chris made a suggestion regarding my use of i-us from my home Linux computer and I just want to pass on that it works. If for some strange reason you're using Linux to view i-us, you'll need use the following address:

Helloe to everyone,
I'm completely new at all this, the web, forums, talking to a Canadian vacationing in France ( ). I'm impressed. It seems that I entered the scene just as it changed, but I'm looking forward to learning as we go along.Love to keep in touch.wishwood@gwis.com I'm not afraid to say that I've been working in Corel for about 4 years and know I have acres and acres to learn. We watercolorists know that it takes takes aces and acres of paper to learn how to use the elusive water medium. Corel allows me to ge the watercolor look make corrections and changes so easily. I get the idea that most of you-all, that have left messages, are well versed in the technical aspecks. I'm not. I'm listening. Thanks
