Hope you like it!
And here are the base pictures ...

I like mine sweet and hot thanks.
Very nice attention to detail, clean lines and nice shadows.
The reflection looks great - although something with the cup seems (to my eye) a little out?
Personally for the steam wisps I might have gone for more uniform haze shape & using plasma transparency maybe? - but that's just me being imaginative. :)
one sweet and hot comming up!! :D
I'm going to try to rework the steam like you said if I have time this afternoon .. I can see with the blue background that it's not very right ^^
thanks for the greate comments sledger!!
Excellent job Thor
How about this steam?
Yeah, Now that I see it changed, that steam is much better .......
Beautifully done. I love the colors, the crispness of the lines, and the general nouveau look of it.
That is an incredible piece!!! I really like your style:)
Great work Thor!
Thanks a lot for the nice comments everyone! :D
Question for admin: Is it possible to move this thread to the Xara gallary please? .. Thanks!!
Bravo. I like the vivid colours and the design.
Moved to Xara Gallery as you requested. :)
Thor really nice work and mine is a double Espresso! Like the way the cup leans like the machine curves really nice touch and never mind what Sledger states it works well.
Just to clarify, my referrence was to the cup reflection, not the cup itself.
Excellent work Thor.
you are thor indeed! :)
good job
Excellent work, very, very nice illustration. Top quality.
Just looking at your coffee pot & cup, it looks sooo good, makes me feel like one. Well done - love my coffee!!! Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
Thanks a lot for the nice comments everyone! :D
and thanks for moving it Allbacore .. double espresso commin up! ;)
EXCELLENT! And a very nice change. Thanks for posting it.
ron
Excellent work that puts the viewer in a nice mood.

Great work, but the thing that's wrong with the reflection of the cup is that you can see the top of the cup, the reflection would be looking "up" at the cup, if you see what I mean.
yes, you would actually see just the brim of the cup... but, it is only a slight, fixable issue in an otherwise incredible illustration :D I keep coming back to look at it.
Hmmm.. I see what you guys mean about the reflection .. but what would be the best way to fix this? I guess a quick way would be to crop it a little bit .. any tips for making this reflection look right is always wellcome ^^
I will poste a new version when I have time to work on it
thanks again everyone!
Very nice work... beautiful peace, thanx for sharing the wire-frame view too.
Yes very well done but I too am troubled by the right hand side of the beaker/mug/cup should it not have a curve on it, like the left hand side ?
I thought the distortion in the reflection was deliberate LOL!.
Well if you want to get a more natural reflection, even the tilted silhouette of the cup will work here I think. To use the shape of the cup reflection and keep the detail, just redraw the fill; take out the top ellipse (the part of the view looking into the top of the cup) redraw/reverse the curve of the coffee itself to match the new rim and extend the side reflections up to the rim.
Proper perspective would need a completely redrawn reflection, but that may not be necessary. distortion can be stylish if it looks deliberate. You could try and fade the reflection out or just fade the details out, before it gets to the worst 'offending' parts.
Sorry for the 'roughness' of the retouch here, not much time, but you can see what I'm getting at I hope?
Yes thanks a lot for this .. I think I'm going to try a fade-out or something like that .. I must say I didn't really put much thought in this reflection .. but I see now that I should have ^^ well .. that's why I'm here ^^ learning learning ... thanks again!
Well here is a little update .. I think this is going to be my final version ^^
Thanks again everyone! :D
Sorry Thor, the reflection should show the rim of the cup and the line of the coffee as convex (as per Marks post) and not concave as your final version.
Hi Thor,
the reflection can't be this way in reality. You can study the reflection of a object, if you render a example scene with your 3D graphics editor or (easier) put your object on a mirror (or a glass plate) and make a photo with your digital camera.
This is a quick reference picture from a 3D graphics editor:

Thanks for the explanation. I think I understand pretty well now how reflection works thanks to you guys.
I see now that I have to draw this reflection to get it right.. shame their ain't no quick way to get it like in a 3D software
I whish their was a tool we could use in Xara to do this quickly :D
I will give it a try when I have a little bit more time ... thanks again for all the greate help!!
Nothing wrong with using 3D software as a guide Thor.
Have you tried Googlesketchup? The free version is easy to use and outputs line-drawings, though not as vector (I think, maybe others know different) and at quite a low res, but for working out tricky perspective, it's great.
Though the idea of 3D layers is not daft (other programs have them), I think it is unlikely in Xtreme, at least in the near future LOL!
This is interesting, but perhaps of limited use; http://blip.tv/file/358735
Don't be downhearted anyway, this is still a very good illustration and the reflection is only the 'icing', so to speak.
Well I just couldn't resist to update this one too .. hope you like it :D
Nice work ...... but there's no "e" on Great
Great job Thor! Very professional. Keith is right, in English there is no e at the end of great.
Well that's just great  .. I guess I'm more tired then I thought I was .. thanks for noticing lol :D
and thanks for the kind comments!
I meant to ask you Thor... who did ytou design this for? Because I saw the same exact coffee maker and cup on an ad in my local food store.... (I should have grabbed a copy)
I didn't do these designs for anyone but for me actually .. the only purpose of it is to improve my skills and become a better graphic designer. What I usually do is I chose a picture that I like on the net, I vectorise it and then I try to make a nice background for it .. that's all. :D
I whish I could get paid some day for this kind of work .. I enjoy it so much :D
Ahhh, but keep in mind... once you begin to get paid for it.... it becomes "work":D
and once in a while... you get those rather "persistent / pesky, and picky" clients:rolleyes:
