Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
Attached is a tiny file which exhibits this strange clipboard problem that I've been having. It seems to be a function of Xara copying a BMP version of the shadow to the Windows Clipboard.
Just open the file, select the yellow shape and hit Ctrl-C to copy it.
When I do this, I get a fake image which appears at the top left of the xX drawing space.
If I drag the shape around the screen, it 'wipes' the fake image away. But if I drag the shape *off* the drawing area and onto the button-bars, the shape will reappear.
Anyone else?

Tested on Vista Business. Can't reproduce what you're experiencing..
Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
Nope. Not happening with Vista Home Premium.

Nothing with Vista Ultimate
Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
Same on both Ultimate & Home versions, can't repeat what you are saying.
Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
Probably a video card/driver issue. I tried your file in the latest version of xtremepro on XP pro (xp pro with all the latest drivers, patches, service packs etc.). I get exactly the same thing you are getting in XP. So *no* it's not a Vista issue.
My XP machine has an ATI Radeon, 256 mb memory, driver version 6.14.10.6715. You can check for updated drivers and that might fix it, or switch out your video card which is more likely to fix it. Maybe some of the folks who aren't having the problem will tell us what card(s) they have that are working right.

no problem with
nvidia FX 128MB
windows XP home
AMD 2000 and 1.25GB DDR
Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
I updated my video drivers, no change. However, I found that if I have anything docked (like the layers or lines galleries) I have the problem. If I have nothing docked I do not get the problem.

Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
Radeon or FX are simply GPU model names from the two main video processor manufacturers. Both models have a number of incarnations in their series with different specs and so on.
Below are two screen grabs using PCWizard on my system, showing the card model and type, the currently installed driver (and much more besides).
See my post on the Off-Topic forum about more accurately identifying your PC hardware.

Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
Yo point taken
Nvidia FX5200 - driver 22/10/2006 ver 6.14.10,9371
Xp home is uptodate on all critical updates
Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
I tried this same file on my vista ultimate machine which has an nvidia card. Same thing on this one too, if I have any galleries docked I get the ghost image. If nothing is docked I don't get the image. I'd say it's a xara issue, not OS or video card.

I'm having the problem with this video card:
Model : ATI Radeon X1300/X1550 Series
Version : 7.14.10.0510
<pause>
While checking that I had the latest driver, I asked Windows to update my driver. It searched the internet and my driver is now:
Version : 7.14.10.0449
In other words, it's just downdated my driver!
But it exhibits the same problem with eiether version of the driver. :(

Yep. Same here. I only see it with docked galleries.

Rather than allowing Microsoft to roll-back your graphics driver, the best source for updates is via the manufacturers website.
Go directly to AMD for your updated Radeon driver:

Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
Yes, it happens here in the CD version of XXP 3.2 on my patched-up Win XP Pro SP2 PC. Not just with your shape though, it happens with anything that has a shadow.
A gallery must be docked and to see it I must be zoomed out far enough to see the top left corner of the work area, though it doesn't matter if the shape is on the page or not. I bet the same thing has happened ever since the shadow tool was added, but I've never been zoomed out enough to notice :)
I'm using an ATI Raedon HD 2400 Pro PCI-E card with a dualcore Athlon 64 4200+ and 2 GB RAM with driver v8.401 (not the latest 8.411 because that kills my PC while it goes into hibernation).
Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
Yes - if I zoom out to 10% I then do get the effect [with gallery docked] in XXP 3.2
It does not happen in xtreme 2.0f
Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
It serves people right for docking their galleries :P
Re: Can someone with XX on Vista check this please?
or being so far out - zoom-wise ?
xara issue then not video card?

Right. Looks like a Xara issue, not video card or drivers.
