Mine was made with Xara Xtreme Pro 3.0
I'll post my solution in a week (4th September 07)

Here you go Bob. I've used Arial Rounded, don't want to load a new font.
One straight line with round end.

I don't get it...how to create a depth shadow at the other end of the button :confused: I used 1 bevel, 1 shadow, 1 single line, text and two
flat fills (for the button and the text) BTW nice challenge !
It's all in the bevel settings. One line, one bevel, one text, and one drop-shadow. Not an exact replica of the original, but close enough.Quote:

I demand an adjudication from the big cheeses hereabouts, namely Remi and Mike Bailey ;) how about it, guys, was it fair and did it bring this forum to life? :)

I agree with Egg. The original post seemed to indicate what could be used, as well as what couldn't. That list is why I didn't do anything to the text. But I'm not a big cheese.

Still, it has shown what an important tool the contour tool is, (which is
why I phrased the challenge the way I did) and possibly somebody may have learned something from following this thread.

Ok, here comes the decision of the Jury:
- The contest starter was very, very off-hand. :mad:
- The contest competitors were not clever enough to take the contour tool into account. :p
The Jury comes to the following judgement:
- Egg has to start a new Contest with well defined rules here in this forum. ;)
- Bob has to insert a contribution to Egg's new contest. :eek:

Hi Bob,
Actually made the shape with the bevel tool
For those who want to know:
-create straight line with an "beveled" line type 96px(line gallery)
-apply 50px bevel,round join,elevation 90,contrast 0,light angle 0
-now make line 1px
-convert to ed.shapes,ungroup
-(shift)select middle nodes in shape editor tool,delete nodes
-delete line(small middle one)
-create text line
-select all txtline+shape
-apply shadow20px/50%,you'll get two shadows(1 for txt,1 for shape)
-conv.ed.shapes,ungroup
-change the "shadow shape" of the txt to white
-stretch it to the same width/height of the bg shape
You get this:
Maybe the others who posted here,could show us some pointers how they did it(so we all can learn)

That's fair enough. Rather than continue within this thread I've started a new one HERE.
Here is a .XAR file of one that doesn't use any contour, for anyone who wants to pick it apart. As I said earlier, it is all in the bevel settings.
