SBP plugin error message in Xtreme/Pro
Hi all. I'm new to all this but have enjoyed reading the posts on here for sometime.
I'm experiencing a problem when I randomly change settings within SBP. All the environments and textures are those that downloaded with SBP 145.
If I change an environment by clicking the environment preview window I get the following:-
CAN'T OPEN FILE
Can't open the evironment file "samui.bmp9.bmp"
Try putting this file in your "evironments and textures" folder.
Or, help BladePro find the "environments and textures" folder
If I click "Find Folder" and browse I can locate the folder but when I click on "samui" I get the "CAN'T OPEN FILE" error.
Instead of looking for "samui.bmp" it seems to be looking for "samui.bmp9.bmp"
By the way, the presets seem to open fine. It's only when I go to modify the "environment" or "texture" it the corresponding preview window.
I would be grateful for any assistance. This niggle spoils what is otherwise a brilliant plugin.
Regards, Mike.

I remember putting additional environments in a separate folder and getting a problem similar. I had to move everything to the primary folder. Rich

Re: SBP plugin error message in Xtreme/Pro
I sue SBP in both Xtreme and Paint Shop Pro, and have had no problems with it in either program. When I try to load a bitmap, I just type it's name without the ".bmp" and it seems to work fine.

I have the same problem and I never got it resolved successfully. If you click on the cancel button everything seems to work OK. Its just very irritating having to do that everytime you touch the object.

Hi Mike,
Have you contacted the makers of SBP?

I have found the folks at Flaming Pear to be very helpful with questions about SuperBladePro as well as their other filters (I have the complete collection.)

Although the error message is annoying, if you click cancel everything works.

Re: SBP plugin error message in Xtreme/Pro
Only problem I had was making an additional environments and textures folder for all of my resources. Make sure the resources are in the environments and textures folder where the plugin is installed.
I had tried putting a copy of the plugin files in a separate plugin folder where I keep the general plugins.
SBP did run when pathed to that folder, but I had a problem location resources when save to that set of files. It turned out that SBP was saving the resources to the PSCS plugin folder instead of my new folder. It appears that there is a Registry entry that direct SPB where to look. When I place the resource in the PSCS floder, everything was fine.
I just changed to XXP path to the PSCS folder. The plugin works. I'll try this and see if I can get an error.
I made a few environments, and will use those.

Re: SBP plugin error message in Xtreme/Pro
Hi All,
No, still nothing from Flaming Pear. I emailed Lloyd Burchill re SBP plugins with Xara. I sent him a link to this site and quoted the comments of many of you who seem to be having the same problem. I even emailed Xara but naturally they refered me back to Flaming Pear.
I know the SBP filters seem to work when you press "cancel" but it makes the whole operation much slower while SBP searches for the plugin anyhow.
Very frustrating and a real downer for what I find to be a very useful plugin.
Maybe some others could contact Lloyd directly?
Mike.
Re: SBP plugin error message in Xtreme/Pro
It actually seems more of a Xara problem than an SBP problem, the exact same plugin works without the error in Photshop Elements. I took a class on SBP and my preference was to use Xara, but I mostly gave up and used Elements because of the no file irritation.
