Welcome to Talkgraphics.
That is a Gel Button. There is a .xar file in the clipart along with a tutorial showing how to create that type of button. If you installed from the CD the clipart will be on your hard drive. If you are using the downloaded version, open the clipart gallery and click the Get Clipart button. The tutorial is one of the .xar files that will be downloaded.
If you have purchased Xara, received your CD and installed Xara from the CD:
- Open XaraX
- Open the clipart gallery by pressing Shift+F10
- In the window that opens up, open up the list of files named "Example XaraX Drawings 1 (CD)" by double clicking it
- Scroll down to the bottom of the list and double click the file named "Gel Buttons"

Hi Zasz,
The tutorial mentions using named colours and linked colours. A reread of that part may help. Check out some of the workbooks at http://www.xaraxone.com. Workbook 51 http://www.xaraxone.com/webxealot/workbook51/page_5.htm show gel buttons.
To make a circular button, simply create a circle by holding the Ctrl key down when using the ellipse tool.
I thing you dont understand...
In the software, clipart gallery > Xara X drawing 1 > Gel buttons..
If you open it, you see a guied to make gel... and u can take a readly gel button, i dont need to make 1 my self when i have 1 ready..
When i try to change the coor u see what happend... (like is the image above) and i want somw how to make it a circle, not an ellipse..
In the menu > help > movies there is a guied talk by a women how t me this..
In the movie she some how shrink the ellipse to a circle... perfectly, and change the color perfect.......
How can i do it>? i tried and i couldnt.. what do i need to do ? what do i need to press on? giving me guieds wont help, i cant understand it.. to complicated..

Try the attached xar file. The button has got a Named Colour which is the only thing you need to alter.

Well, i'll give you the credit, i did managed to change the color.. but i did as you said and the ellipse shape is till there... no circle...........
sry guys to bother you too much but what can i do? i dont understand it or maybe the program is screwd...

I already did - upload your xar file and I will do it with that one. That way you can see exactly where you went wrong, if you did go wrong... Maybe you're just missing a small step.
maybe so... in the clipart gallery, there is this gell button guied? so i took the green button from them... the first one in the top....
i cannot shrink it like u said, it shrink only the white reflacion...
I'm sorry Zasz. I want to help you but not if you will not attach the drawing you are trying but failing to successfully modify. I want to see why you cannot do what I and so many other Xara users can do with ease and I cannot do that without the actual drawing that you are working from.

I've read the whole thread, word for word, and looked until I am changing colours, but still can't find out how to change the color of just one button. I made a button and used a named colour, (crimson for those who wish to know.
I duplicated this two times, then I selected one of the other ones, opened the colour editor, and dragged the colour handle from the colour bar (the small square on the crimson named colour). Then I began to slide the cross hair along the colours that newly appeared when I released the color square on the pallet. When I start to move the cross hairs, as I call it, all the buttons change colour at the same time.
Can someone tell me how I can unlink the button colour so I can change one at a time???

But do not dispair.
Select your button, copy it to the clipboard.
Open a new Xtreme page
Paste the button
Alter your colour crimson
Copy to clipboard
Paste back to your original drawing
Repeat as often as required
Xtreme renames duplicate named colours each time it pastes back to the original
