Major New Product Annoucement
Just received Xara newsletter and it said.....
"There is relatively little news this month - that's because we're all working like mad towards a major new product announcement next month. But you'll have to wait until next month to find out more..."
If you don't receive the newsletter, you can view it at http://www.xara.com:80/news/october06/

Hahahahaha! Now that IS funny. :D

Re: Major New Product Annoucement
Now that is dissappointing ... takes years for new releases of Xara Xtreme and hardly anything changes ... really really boring ... if they put more effort and development into that they might get more press and a larger share of new users ...
It's like after every time a new version of Xara Studio comes out there's an influs of new users here ... which to my mind means that a new release is worth the extra press.
But at the end of the day it probably comes down to resources at Xara House

Re: Major New Product Annoucement
Maybe they have realised that the animation side of Xara is worth developing and we'll have a brand new animation product enabling the incorporation of sound and exporting to all movie formats.
For now, I'd be happy with a button which reverses the frame sequence.

Re: Major New Product Annoucement
I think it's just a name change to Xnorman Xtreme...

And where did you get this information from, if I may ask? Any link to that source?

Re: Major New Product Annoucement
Does anyone get the idea that Gary Priester is aching to tell us all about it, but can't spill the beans before the official release? I think his about to pop holding in the information.
I also am welling to bet a good chunk of cash that for every new feature in the next software release, Gary is ALREADY working on tutorials to help us learn how to use it!
My fondest wish would be that Xtreme could allowed to create the sort files used as templates in Webstyle.
But I'm willing to commit right now to say that if Xara makes it, I will buy it!

Re: Major New Product Annoucement
We are told: "A major new product announcement."
One might infer from this that there is to be a major new product.
Or it could be a major new announcement about an existing product.
Do the words 'Major' and 'New' refer to a product or an announcement?
We should be told ...

LOL!
Why does this thread remind of being a kid on Christmas eve?
I think we will just have to wait and see what Santa brings.

The announcement was in the November issue so I guess next month means December.
Hmmm .. thinking about it, it could well be a new version of Xtreme.
That would explain the currrent discounts on existing versions ...

Re: Major New Product Annoucement
Remi, the lighting on that lettering (lettering lighting?) is really neat! Is this a Xara production or is this from Magix?
Raymond, is that your real voice or one of the English accent voices? Either way, it's a great voice!

It was actually the October issue, FWIW.

It's a 3D graphic, created with Carrara 5 Pro and a little bit help from Xara Xtreme.

Re: Major New Product Annoucement
1. Enable save undos
2. Mesh Fill
3. Extrude
4. Vector Live plugins
5. Better brush variable
That's all I want

The funny thing is, the XAR Format already supports so-called "Framework Records": You're not only able to save Layers in a XAR file, but also Pages (so-called "Spreads"), Chapters and it's also possible to save multiple Documents within an XAR file. But the developers doesn't build the necessary GUI elements within Xara Xtreme, to support multiple Pages (see also this post).

Remi

Re: Major New Product Annoucement
Some interesting ideas Logo.
Save undos? Hmm...interesting, but not likely to be a massive demand for this.
I think extrude is also unlikely, that would be treading on the toes of Xara 3D.
Mesh fill seems completely unecessary - any object of any shape can be feathered to emulate an airbrushed tone and even blended with any other shape (feathered or not), so why the need for time consuming mesh-fills?
I don't know what you mean by vector live plugins, but I'm always interested in learning about new tools.
Brush variables, I would certainly say making the random variations applicable between strokes (as opposed to only within brush strokes) would seem a useful option, this would allow brushes that emulate more 'organic/natural' media easier to create.

No, not the newsletter - I was talking about the suggestion that the product would be the "Maya" something or other - it was a joke, but you were asking for more info!
Availor, the newsletter takes longer to deliver to Israel because the virus checker has to make sure it's kosher first.. ;-)

But I'm Russian in origin and I don't care about Kosher, so can I do something so it comes faster next time?
