that looks neat Bill http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
So is the fog a part of the enviro, and the cube and sphere are reflecting it?
Hi Gidgit, the fog is only part of the cube material. No transparancy except for that the fog channel provides. Used the water shader in the bump channel. I thought it looked like a free standing cube of water on my LCD at home. This morning on the monitor at work, it looks more like an inflated plastic cube http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
Thats cool Bill http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I used fog for my dust on the mech pic, which is wip again now http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Hi Bill, thanks for explaining that...water for thought http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
and yea, sure wish every thing was under one standard so that no matter what machine or monitor is used it all looks the same.... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/confused.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Hi Stu... sounds good http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Thanks Stu and Gidgit. Well, the image above was disappointing to say the least http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif I decided to crank the temperature down and freeze the whole thing. Hope it turns out ok on more displays. I viewed it on my other PC which has a CRT and it looks good to me, but I'm biased http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
Please let me know how it looks on your hardware.
now that is looking very cool Bill... geez, now ya gotta turn this into an ice sculpture... time to get out the chainsaw and chisels http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
great fx Bill... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif Yep a block of ice now Bill {how it looks to me}
The conbinations of the SLA shaders is just enormous, and when you add the volume shaders as well it just it gets crazy, and then theres the new layers addition as well. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Very cool experiment Bill! Love the look of the ice cube.
Thanks Gidgit, Stu, and Randy. Gidgit, I don't have a swan; so the knight from the chess set was the best 'sculpture' I could come up with quickly.
Here's the C4D file, if anyone wants to try the material.
Just awesome Bill... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif What a "cool" knight http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
and thank you very much for sharing your trade secrets here http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif very cool of you to do so http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
Thanks Gidgit. 'Trade' is a good point. Sharing the material is partial trade for all the help provided here, and all the fun I have here.
Cool looking ice Bill. I usually do my fog in postwork, Did you find that using a fog mat. increases render time a lot?
Thanks Mike. Yes, the fog mat increased the render time considerably. The two knights with a simple colour mat render in less than 30 seconds. With the ice material it took about 12 minutes.
