I wanted to try something different for a change.I greatly admire the still life painting of the masters of old.I have nothing but admration for someone who can paint {with a brush} accurate perspective add accurate shadow and lighting also,I always feel spoilt when I can add a gradient in a 2d environment and create a light source, and I shudder at the thought of painting one which wraps accurately around all of the objects it touches and is created by a multitude of sable hairs and varying hues and tones of color.

I have to agree with Gary. There is something quite appealing about your image.

I think its the warm tones. My original idea was that underneath the wooden shelf could be a fire so Introduced warm tones for the wood and supplemented it with a warm sunlight color as well as opposed to just a little yellow http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi Richard and thanks http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Ya I think Gare will, but I though the least I can do is do him the decency of asking http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Hows the 3D coming along?

Excellent, very natural. How do I know? It's simple: because nobody mentioned it. Otherwise we would have told you that there is something wrong but we definitely wouldn't be able to tell you what ;-}
Only one minor thought: the pic appears to be cut off at the bottom. 5 cm or 2 inch more in front of the candlelights would look more 'well rounded', but that's just my personal opinion.
Fun aside, looks like a cosy place to spend the rest of the day...

Well http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif not doing any 3D right now. With my system recoverying from a worm attack and trying to get all my settings and stuff in place, again, from my reload, working on the web site, moderating pixelparity (Peter, Risto and Wayne started these forums up) and trying to stay involved here, there and everywhere, WITH a nasty colod, no time!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Maya told me she had a great time in your neck of the woods and that you were a gracious and wonderful host! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif Can't wait to see the pics!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Jenns is right, also a very natural looking piece. I truly love this one!

Thanks - I like the warm lighting myself.
Ah crap a worm huh.Its a shame technology is not able to let us find the villain and then have a thousand or so people send them a cyber head butt http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Ya it was cool I really enjoyed Mayas visit as well while she was in NZ.
A cold huh,yep I hate colds too,I have one 24/7 now for about the last year or so.Have to say I feel like a real oddity with a runny nose in the summer....hahahaa http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
jens - Ya it is a bit cut off at the bottom actually.

It's so peaceful, beautiful colors...nice work as always, Stu. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif Love the wallpaper too. The rose pattern wallpaper reminds me of an arts and crafts design artist I believe who was Scottish...last name of Charles Rennie Mackintosh I think...roses were prominent in many of his designs.
Hey, Richard, I'm still waiting for your reply to my letter!!!! What's up?! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Yeah, NZ is the most beautiful place on the planet in my book, and I mean to return---and the kiwis are the kindest most fabulous people I've ever had the pleasure to meet---(yeah, that includes Stu http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif )!!! My holiday there and meeting him was most wonderful. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Hey Maya, glad to have you back. Look in your email box, nice long NOTE for you there.
Hey Stu, a cold for a year?? I don't think I would like to feel the way I do right now for a year but I guess you get used to it in some ways. I know with all my stuff I get used to pain and some other stuff that nags at me.
Enough of that. I just wanted to put in another kudoos for your image. Great stuff. VERY serene for sure!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
