seeing your drawings, Bill. The eyes are so expressive, and the technique for making the hair is wonderful.
Feliz Navidad.

warm camments. Here's an enlargement of hair

With the passing of time one tends to get real
familiar with Xara. One thing I would like to do
is get to know ALL of the possible apps of ALL of
it's tools etc. I know there exists very fine
tuts, but I wanted to get to know them, criss
crossing all the apps. I feal sure that I'm just
scratching the surface. Of course the forum has
brought forth beautiful work that helps so much.
...lot's of vactioners here..

I understand what you are saying Bill. Xara offers us an amazing toolkit but I feel I only use a relatively small set of skills compared with all the possibilities the toolset offers.
It is almost a new year and with that transition comes the time to make resolutions. I resolve to make more effort to expand my understanding of the possibilities. (It will be a joy!).
All the best at this time of year.

You had to pay that price for results like that eh!? Long render time I'd imagine! Very nice style!

Julie looks great Bill. I have to agree that the hair is good.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

STEVE..
to tell the truth, in all I would say it
took maybe 3 hrs.total. At the beginning it took
many hrs. But as I mentioned before..as one keeps
working with X-X, it becomes quite natural the
approach and procedure to do pieces like this. You
obtain an experience that becomes yours and when
you begin another it all comes back and you go at
it with a certain assurance of where you're going.
Thus, you gain speed. I'm sure all of have felt
this in some way or another. Thanks all!
..it's nice at 80 degrees..
Bill
PS- Allow me to add one other thing, Steve. The strands of hair you see are really not that many.
There is an under preparation that absorbs into the
not-so-many strands laying on top. It may give the
idea that those strands go deep, in order to "fluff" the hair up etc., but not so.

what I meant was all those lines! Lines of that amount take a while to render on my screen! But I'm sure the whole process doesn't take that long after experience.

MADALYNN...thanks for your take on JULIE.
I can't remember having seen your name on forum.
...and a 'race car' driver..that's very
interesting. I want to see some of your posts.
CARS?
Thank you once again for comments..
Till another Julie or so...

is in the shop getting the minor body work done, and a fresh paint scheme - red nose, rest of body is white, a silver ban running door to fender to hood and back down the other fender and door. When the car is out of the shop, I'll post it.
As for being a race car driver, what's wrong with driving for a living? I Love driving, I'm just a kid at heart!!
As for not seeing my name on the board, it's here. I'm a new member. I've posted maybe 5 or 6 images of my work, all done in Xara or Xara X
Star Trek - Nemesis
Stamp - early work (1997)
Dog Racing
Street Rod - 1997
Global Nighthawk Radiology logo submission
Cognio.com logo submission
I know my work isn't the best here, but I'm learning.

...thanks for reply.
No offense at all..I reacted with couriousness,
that's all. ...if race-car driving is your piece
of cake...put the frosting on it!
I'll be waiting to see the Red Baron, when it's
fixed.
I just checked out Nemisis...pretty cool!
I'm sure you'll be 'accelerately' soon with
Xara X!
BTW, do you race professionaly..Daytona etc?

I'm not offended, I was just playing with ya. I'll try to keep in mind one's tone and inflections do not always come across.
I'm not a professional, yet. I'm only racing in the Pro7 class, but I do have plans to race professionally in World Challenge Series (Touring cars - SCCA) and USTCC (NASA version) or GT class.
I'm pretty good, but this is past season I started late so I only have 3 races behind me, but my mentors says I have what it takes to go pro, so that's what I'm doing this new season (2003) prove I can take my class by storm, and move up to the classes I want to race in.

P.S. Almost forgot. Thanks for the input on the Nemesis. I'll get there.

Why not make your sweet racer a project to do in Xara?? You can do it, I really liked your other car image!!
Bill, I love the close up of the eye. When it's not blinking at me I really love to look into it and see all the colors. I looks realistic. I like eyes!! But I digress I'm more of a leg man in all honesty!! Steve , an image like that should not take long to render in Xara, X. I guess it would depend on your computer. Do you have and old computer ?
Bill did you do the hair with a pen and drawing tablet. I know that you mentioned using this before. What kind of tablet do you use ?
I might get one someday.
-
MADALYNNE,
Great!..Any pics you with your Red Baron?
Don't know too much about it...'drag racing' is
something different, right? There's a very
well know 'drag strip' here in Puerto Rico.
..beautiful blue skies..

Yes, I do use tablet..(Wacom/Intuos 4X5)
Indeed, my computer is a Dell Precision 02 with
twin processors at 733mhg each...512 mgs memory.
Xara X is very fast...however one's computer has
to have the guts to comply with it's speed.
...nice and mild here...
