Another way of copying an object
Probably everyone already knows this, but if you right click + Ctrl
on an object in XXP and drag and drop it elsewhere on the workspace,
then click the left mouse button whilst still depressing the right button and
then release both buttons you make a new copy.
A time-saver as it means not using a keyboard shortcut, or selecting
the copy icon if you should have it on any of your toolbars.
You don't have to break step with working with the mouse.
Steve, (sledger) says that in version 3.2 you just right click and
drag 'n' drop. V.3.0 and earlier don't support this.
Probably more difficult to do this with a tablet pen, although
I haven't tried it.
Saludos,
Bob.
Re: Another way of copying an object
Interesting how you are doing that. I left-click, move, then right-click where I want the copy.
Re: Another way of copying an object
This is version dependant.
With Xtremepro 3.2 - simply 'right-click drag' produces a duplicate (copy).

Thanks Steve, that explains why Bob's method wouldn't work for me,
as I'm still using version 3.0.
Anyone else still using V.3.0 or earlier may find my method of some use. :)
Saludos,
Bob.

Re: Another way of copying an object
You can also drag an object the normal way (if there is a normal way) and press the + key on the numeric keypad to drop a duplicate. This way you can drag and drop a whole bunch of copies very quickly.

That's a good tip, Gary, I stacked these cans in no time flat!

Re: Another way of copying an object
Hi Bob, my version predates yours, so this may still provide the answer.
Perhaps we can pinpoint the change somewhere between December 14 2006 and January 17 2007.

Bob.

xara is full of little tidbits, is there a place that lists them all?
Re: Another way of copying an object
Tip of the day and the Help file?
Though it would be nice to have a single compiled list of hidden/less known tips, tricks and any easter eggs.
Re: Another way of copying an object

In 3.2, if you drag and drop with the right key, it produces a copy. If you drag with the right key, you can tap the left key whilst still dragging, to drop a copy to make the whole bunch as above.

Yep Keith .. Post #3 :p
And I'd sure miss it if it were ever changed :(
Re: Another way of copying an object
Yes, I'd miss it too .... I was trying to make the point that left clicking whilst doing it drops a whole bunch of copies, as does hitting "+" as Gary said.
