Cpould someone please print the attached .xar file and let me know the result.
Page&Layout Designer 11 - have a shape and a bitmap of a tree and a "squigly line" shape and a bitmap copy of it - the bitmaps print but not the line shapes.
I then copied the lines and bitmaps into WDP12 and printed the page - same result!
Also attached is a jpeg so you can see what the file looks like.

Got the same result as you, only the bitmaps printed. :rolleyes: To print the shapes had to make bitmap copies of them.

The tree shape is very complicated. You may need to simplify it for some printer drivers.
You don't have to lose any detail, just break it up into a number of smaller shapes.

Or, try with just exporting to PDF and print the PDF.
if you are printing to paper then in designer pro I would change the xara print options for the document to print as either bitmap or antialiased bitmap - you can choose automatic or you can choose a suitable dpi manually to suit
- but I have no idea if this option is in P&L or WD...

Thanks everyone - yes, it's fine as a .pdf.
Also the "print as anti aliased bitmap" worked.
I understand that the tree is a very complex/detailed shape, but the "wave" is a simple divider from the design gallery...
Am I right in thinking these shapes were not created in Xara?
looking at your squigly line I'd say that pattern was not done by hand.. if it had a, say wave, effect added in another program then, although xara can render it to screen, it's possible that it cannot print it if the print side of the program cannot deal with this effect...
in actual fact the squgly line is a group object in your file - if I ungroup it and try to print, xdpx12 crashes
there is nothing reported in this group in xara other than the line in xara, but maybe something is 'missing' ....
EDIT - I just re-read the bit about the wave being from the design gallery - I can't test that because I don't have access to it, but the wave will not print for me even in a file by itself and surely if it's from the design gallery it should, although maybe xara does not check these things, who knows - did you post process it in any way?
The divider line does print if you convert the line to shape, but this isn't much help to a novice who wants to add it to a print document.

I seem to remember from the very distant and very foggy past that very early on, there was a post script limit on complex shapes. Illustrator and maybe Freehand would arbitrarily break complex shapes that would not print in EPS into several shapes. Corel I also seem to remember did not do this and used to cause problems at the Service Bureau (remember those places) when you were trying to output your file.
This is a known bug that existed before some versions. Some line profiles are also not printed, e.g. Propeller. This bug also affects other objects/shapes. Send a ticket to XARA.
I recall an issue about some lines not printing when importted in AI format, especially if they ere set at line width '0' or were really shapes with an outline of '0'
Propeller prints fine for me as a line... and so as far as I know do all the others

not in a position to test it on ver15 for sure, but maybe it is your printer that has an issue [as Phil indicated]
It's since version 15. Same bug some years ago in version 9 or 10. Was then fixed in one of the minor updates.
have to say - propeller still prints ok for me on normal setting from the trial v15...
I installed the UK-trial version 15 on a notebook. Printout also fails in normal-mode. It's a little bit curious.
I wait for the next update and will check again. As workaraoud I set the printer setting to bitmap when needed.
can you try it on another printer? - or try printing it to pdf maybe?
'microsoft print to PDF' is an option you can select as the printer in win10 - if it prints ok to a PDF then again it may be your printer or it's drivers...
Printing to 'Microsoft PDF' or 'Microsoft XPS' changes nothing. In version 12 all is OK.
works for me.. all I can say then is,maybe it's the german version... you'll need to contact magix support

Shouldn't need to print to pdf if it exports fine to pdf as it did for the thread starter.
The file prints fine here directly. But I nearly never print direct anyway. I (nearly) always export to pdf, review said pdf, and if it is OK, print the pdf.

But if the pdf export also doesn't work for WSNetwork then that may mean something else entirely. well yes we agree on that then i think...
my point was WSNetwork first dscribed his issue as a bug in Xara - I'm not convinced of that... I think he/she has a printer issue [as in hardware/driver] when trying to print xara propeller and other shapes
in my experience , and I used to use stroke shapes and AI/SVG imports a lot, it was only the AI/SVG imports that caused issues, not the stroke shapes
I just don't get the issue either with v12 or v15-trial [uk versions], so no real help I can give...

I described in post 17 that I set the print-Options to bitmap as workaraound. Also export to PDF works. In version 12 all works fine with the same configuration. Also tested on a second machine. All I want is living without workaraounds.
