Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
Just installed Internet Explorer 10.
I am running Windows 7 32bit.
The 'Enter' key does not work, in the text area, when I reply to a post, or if I create a new post.
(Some people might call this the 'Return' key.)
When I press the Enter key to go to the next line. That doesn't work.
I've even tired the on-screen keyboard. That doesn't work either.
The Enter key works everywhere else.
I can use it to log in and do all the other things you would expect the Enter key to do.
If I use Firefox, that works OK.
Any ideas or has anyone else experienced this?

Hmm,
Enter
Key
Working
Here.
But I am using IE10 on a 64-bit Win8...Mike
Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
[some might]
this done in IE10 on win7-32bit machine that I just happen to be on, and the
enter keys
both seem to work fine
are you using default settings ? - a long shot but the forum requires yahooapis for some things, so too high a scripting/security setting might upset it, but 'tis only a thought

Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
I thought I would try 'Compatibility' mode and that seems to have fixed the problem.
Thanks for trying everyone.
Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
Installed this yesterday on my win 7 64bit and it was as buggy as hell. I know that it is a preview release but it really is truly awful. Did not have the enter key problem but it was so slow compared to the IE8 I have and in comparison to google chrome it was twice as slow. Uninstalled it just 10 minutes later and reverted back to EI8.
Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
no longer preview, it's now officially released, soon [if not already] to be in updates..

Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
If that was a real deal and not a preview then it needs to stay on windows 8.

I am happy with it - no problems that I can see, but it's not my main browser....
not actually sure what you mean by 'If that was a real deal and not a preview then it needs to stay on windows 8'
Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
Just that it was created for windows 8 and as an after thought they decided to bring it over to windows 7 a whole 7 months (or so) later. Many people have experienced bugs with it and it is very slow on win 7 pcs, just wondering how it compares on your computer with chrome or firefox.
Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
Firefox is my main browser [the reason for that is it is in my blood - I have use it more or less since it was born and the way I have it set up, and the privacy and security features I use, I fully understand the workings of]
that said some sites I need to use IE for, because they don't play well with FFox as I have it set up
I don't claim to have compared the two - I am currently too busy with real life to do that for the sake of it, when I am not getting problems either way... just saying that
Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
I do have same problem before my internet explorer 10 didn't function well.
What I did is I went to microsoft fix to repair whatever problem I have in my IE10.
It might work in you also. You may try to go on microsoft fix.

Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
I had Internet Explorer 10 as an update yesterday and installed it. It seemed to work fine, but when I looked at a site I'd produced using a slide out effect, the effect on pop ups were abscent and the pop ups appeared instantly. I checked a coulpe of other sites with similar effects and they were all the same, no effects.
Uninstalled it for now unless someone knows a cure.

Unfortunately, IE10 is incompatible with previous versions of IE and with our code. Transitions do not work in IE10. As well as some other features. This will be fixed in the following version of our software.

Actually, my son did mention this to me.
Thanks for letting us know.
Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
Just testing. 64 bit. Same problem. Progress I suspect.
Re: Internet Explorer 10 - 'Enter' key problem
I had this problem lately, my solution, in my own case, was to verify the control selected is not something else than the browser.
Example, I have a Windows Form (what we normally call a window lol), if another control on the form is selected, for example a button that would minimize the window, even if I am writing somewhere, the Enter key would minimize the window cause the selected control of the form was the Minimize button.
You must ensure that it is the web browser you have selected, and not some kind of hidden menu, or anything else.
Enter key will, strangely, be used for controls after you click on them. So my own software, where I would click "Internet" to open the browser, where I would afterwhile want to press Enter in a <textarea>, well it would act as If i pressed enter on the Computer button.
It's weird... I know.
I thought they bugged the IE, but it was just the control selection problem.
Maybe it applies to your IE problem?
