Xara and E3.
Rich
You should'a signed that one Rich... then sent it on to a jeweler. Ole rich biddies would pay a pretty penny for something like that to wear...
gorgeous!
I agree about the jewelry, sign that puppy er turtle!
Think thats very good indeed Rich, really like it.
Steve,
The crystal was a map I made from a decanter stopper. Kai ran under the table it was sitting on and broke the decanter, but the stopper survivied. The gold bezel is a ring map applied to the objects. More of a global application of color.
I exported the two images separately, and adjusted the glass fill opacity in Xara.

clever stuff Rich :)
Is this a variation of your avatar?
Mike,
The green turtle was done with fly maps. I have several hundred maps with a range of colors. These were Xara drawings colored in E3 and then assembled in Xara again. I made a few crystal maps trying to find something that would work nicely. I found that E3 could use transparent maps, and that is the basis for the bezel fills. The map fill is the same, however, this type has a transparent center. The color flows from the shape of the object, and the amount of the bezel is adjustable. With the crystal fill, all the objects were done at the same time. Same with the bezel. I save out to PNG, and make the final adjustments in Xara.
My system is still recovering from being destroyed by a power surge, and I haven't loaded all my resources.

Most of the pieces are map colored. I made lots of tiles for the frame matt.

Hi Rich!
Nice turtles in a tank...
Here is a challenge for you...
Do a couple crystal turtles swiming in a crystal punch bowl filled with champane, complete with bubbles... Make sure you sign it tho... You could start a craze with all those bridezillas out there...
Wow Rich that is incredible :)

I believe E3.3 is still available for free. You can do your own.
Rich
Rich as always great work
I also restarted working with E3 it is fun
greetings
Thanks Germaine,
The turtle is the same drawing with a ring map in one case, and crystal map in the other. You need to turn on paper texture to see the ring map transparency on screen. This would export to PNG showing transparency, regardless. The view is better in Xara, and I like to do the assembly there.

Nice effects, Rich,
I am often told that the Celtic stuff I do would work well with a treatment similar to this. I have the original MS Expression but have not used it much (rather a resource hog). After viewing these, however, I am downloading E3.
thanks,
geo.
Geo,
The earlier versions are most likely expired. After several versions, the application was unable to save map fills with the file, and later, the map capability was removed. I believe you will only find this capability in E3 now.
A leaf with a fly map fill and a ring map bezel. This has a grid map overlay as well.
