Gary's Summer of Hell 2015
Gary is going to be MIA for a while. He fell yesterday and broke his leg repaired and will probably also have to have a replacement hip implant installed this afternoon.
He is in a good hospital with very caring staff and a great surgical team and they are keeping him very comfortable and a little goofy with some high quality pharma while awaiting his surgery.
Everything should go smoothly, and I'll let you know how it all goes.

Hi,
I think I'm good to freeze this thread now, and thanks to all for the good wishes.
The skinny to the story is that shortly after I came home from 4 weeks in therapy for the broken femur, I got kidney stones. The stones were in a region that was inaccessible without major surgery, so a stent was put in to let the kidney heal and let the stones do what they were going to do without blocking by bladder.
However, the kidney slowly became massively infected without detection until literally the last moment. I was taken back to an all-too-familiar hospital for antibiotics and stabilizing my vitals; sepsis had set in, the infection had spread to my entire body and my blood pressure was ridiculous. Knock on wood, 7/16/15 I returned home with a metric ton of antibodies I'll be on for another two weeks, I'm re hydrated and actually dropped a couple of pounds I needed to get rid of.
So I'm closing this thread and a bad experience. I hope August is terrific for us all and I have a surprise gift as the Giveaway that's going up summarily.
My Best,
Gary

Coming Back from Spring Break
Coming Back from Spring Break
I’m at home now, getting in-house therapy, and I’d like to thank you all for the kind sentiments. My intentions are to create a June Xara Xone Content Fest, with a video tute, a neat written one by Frances, and a very strange but wonderful Giveaway (at least in my opinion)
Fred’s cartoon Post # 20) is inaccurate but very funny! You folks need a better source image to retouch in Xara. And Ron or Rik might be best at it, because they like to do shiny metal parts a lot :):

The diagonal line represents the current state of the femur; clearly, the break has been set. The other stuff is Titanium: the shaft of the hip replacement from 22 years ago, plus these rings that are holding the femur together, for now until it grows back into the highly biocompatible Titanium, with micro-pores to allow re-joining.
Brilliant work.
I could only wish it happened to someone else to appreciate better.
My Best, and happy to be near a computer and the forum once again,
Gary Bouton,

Erm, no. stygg. See, with only one hip done, trying to run at superspeed would only corkscrew me into the ground.
Although that, too, might be interesting to video for YouTube.

Re: Coming Back from Spring Break
Welcome back Gary.
Looks like you've had one of those alien implants fitted. It continually transmits your position to outer space.
I think that if you wanted a little holiday from TG, there are easier ways to do it.
Take it easy.

Thanks, Paul, and oh, perish the thought of taking time off from tg!
Reality is far too boring!

Hi Gare,
I'm glad you're back!
You have given new meaning to "Fall" and "Spring break"...OUCH!
... and you've even become a more valuable member of TG
"The $80,000 Man (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price)" [plus 'labor']
Here's wishing you pain free therapy and a speedy recovery!
Re: Coming Back from Spring Break
I just read this, I'm a little slow you know. Glad to hear all went well and you're back in action.
Re: Coming Back from Spring Break
Thought I'd take a bit of a break from the bank holiday, here in the UK, and check in on TG.
To find that Gary is back home. That is great news, I'm sure we'll all agree on.
Make sure you take it easy, friend.
