We have all become like a family, so why not put a face with the name? I'll go first.
This is me. Yes, I know I don't look my age, I get that a lot - A LOT!

This has been done multiple times, not sure how to search for it but one time it was in the photography section.
Yes, you can find the Portrait of TG thread here: http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...portrait-of-TG (18 pages of it !)
It's not like people don't change their appearance or age for that fact or anything. Nope everyone always looks the exactly the same.
As for the search, comment about the search, with the title being what it is, "Portrait of TG", like I would have found that right away. Thanks for barking at me about. That thread is Over 2 Years Old, and yet some threads like the "Stop & Post" is renewed every month, but no one has barked about that.
I'm sorry that I trying to be thoughtful and share an idea with a community I care about - I didn't realize I was going to cause and issue for you TimS. I wont make that mistake again. I'll be sure to ONLY reply to threads from now on.
sorry
Oh dear -- I don't think Tim meant anything by it M.
By the way, I used the search term 'photo of tg members' to find that thread.
Cheer up :D
Resuscitating such an old thread wouldn't be preferable, and photos changes. So nothing wrong Miss Devious, do continue!
So, will you post your photo, Antony? :)
Madalynne.
Many comments can be misunderstood. I have to be very careful as my humour can be taken wrongly. I wish I had the freedom to be who I am but have learned from experience that a bit of care is needed.
I think that all Tim was saying is that this has been done before.
But, that shouldn't stop you from coming with a new thread to start this again, considering that the last time it was a few years ago.
I say well done to you Madalynne.
Actually Madalynne.
One thing I would like to see is, either the name of the person as the user name or the person signing off a post with their name.
I like to address people by their names, rather than writing something like 'Soquili' and so on.
I am using Soquili as a very good example here. You can see that his signature area includes his name.
So, if I want to (and I personally always like to) I can use Bill, instead of Soquili.
Only my opinion.
So, Rik, will you join Madalynne and post your photo? :)
Hi John.
I'll go one better.
Here is one of me and my lovely (long suffering) wife.

I prefer thinner lips. :)
(I'm too cheap to hire a photographer). By the way, that is not my natural hair color!
I was so hoping to see YOUR long suffering wife!
Also, no need to spend money on hair colour like that.
In a while, it will go that colour, all by itself. ;))
I think it's great to put faces to names.
Here's mine ;) Attachment 82990
Oh, very well Rik - This was taken last year as Mary and I attended the naturalization ceremony for a friend who just became a US citizen. I was very dressed up for me (I wore a clean pair of shorts).
OK Madalynne, how old are you really? Reminds me of a waitress in one of our local cafes who asked me how old I thought she was. I looked her and thought, well I'd better err on the side of diplomacy, so I guessed 37. She was indignant and said she was 32! (So, don't ask, then!)
My true age is 41.
This photo was take a few years ago, age 38...
The other photo you can see a photo of my late husband, taken 3 months after he proposed - I was 28.
Rik, you will note that my name is included in my signature, and has been there since I have rejoined this forum earlier this year.
I was going to post a photo of Gary Priester and say it's me, but the Other Gary has already gone, so...
Barb snapped this while I was taking a break from repairing the sink in the master bathroom. It was sort of Zen, an immersive experience...

This is just for you Madalynne. The color photo was taken just a little while ago. The others were not all the same so I gave them all the same tones.

Larry a.k.a. Wizard509
Wow, Larry—this is a weird moment. Your life just flashed before my eyes!
I'm not going to go into the Light, but I will offer that what you did is fun, enjoyable for a complete stranger to dig.
Thansk for sharing,
Gary
Thank you Larry.
Gare, that is a fun image. You never know what you will run into down in the drain, spiders, alligators, the blob... maybe you take some protection along.
Madalynne, thank you for doing this thread. It's good to see some new faces as well as new images of those I have seen before.
Here is a photo of me, suitable for use in a corn field to scare the crows away. :D
Actually, this is what the face behind that avatar really looks like ;)

Drat, my secret has been revealed. ;)
How is that possible? http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...655#post306655
BTW I recommend you to read that entire thread. There's lots of funny stuff in there. ;)
Does it make any difference? Is link not enough? :)
The reason I was asking you about joining is that you have never posted your photo on TG before and because you posted two messages in this thread, talking how you support Madalynne, while in fact that was not what she was asking for. She wanted to see your face, not to read your opinion. So, you had to post it to prove your words were not empty. That's what I have hinted. ;)
and I thought Madalynne wanted uptodate photo's not two year old ones...
I don't post photo's of myself anywhere if it can be avoided Madalynne, as is apparent from the other thread [just in case John starts asking me :D]
I assure you I have not change a bit since then. ;) However, I don't think Madalynne has ever seen these "old" photos, so she could not mean what you imply in the first post.
So what is your point of posting here again? :rolleyes:Quote:

I did look over the older threads, which is why I know it's OVER 2 years old. Photos provide the view with more than just a image of the subject. Photos can give a information about the subject - emotional status, style, hobbies, interest, personality... Photos can give people an idea of who you true are as a person. I'm forced to admit that I can understand the position of "handrawn", but not the reasoning. depending on where you live, your photo is taken several times during the course of the day. There is already a record of you and a photo to go with it with the government - Driver's license for example. All that data is on a computer - somewhere, and yes, it is online. Will you join us in the 21st century and show a photo of you better than what's on your driver's license?
Its hard to beleive but I was actually enjoying myself. A pub in Devon this May.

Here's a thought, Madalynne: why don't we declare a specific day to be "Non-Avatar Day"?
The only responsibility is that on that day, everyone is requested to post a photo of themselves instead of any funny little avatar they might be using on the forum.
The next day, all the reluctant folks can go back to logos, silhouettes, and cartoons, and soup cans for what anyone cares!
My Best,
Gary
P.S. Has anyone (or everyone) noticed that Xaraists tend to be more "mature" people?
Here's one of me taken last weekend after a hard day cementing a stone wall
Attachment 83012
Gare I may look mature but I refuse to "grow up". :D
It may not show in the photo but I was having to put forth much effort to keep from having a big toothy grin. ;)
You folks who are riffing on my use of the term "mature":
1. Know what I'm getting at, but refuse to admit it, and
2. You should grow up.
