Rich your BACK!! good see ya posting again! now you can get involved with our night shot posting!
Thanks Mike,
Tonights project was gelling fly maps for Acrylic. How could John squash something this pretty.
Rich
Yea!!!!! Welcome back Rich!
Neato... you have made fingerpaints outa flies... You really must have some patence to disect all those bugs. Although squishing em into paste must be the fun part. :D
I agree with Mikey, you gotta join us in the darkroom and start mooning everyone. It is great fun... :D
A map puzzel. Bugs and shells, chocolate... Rich
so rich,
does that count as chocolate covered bugs?
Actually making the chocolate map was very tasty.
Rich
Hey Rich, so did you take a picture of the chocolate, or squish it in your scanner? Thinking about it... I don't think I would like to look at the bed of your scanner... So many mushed bugs... :D
Tin Can, a place to keep bugs. You can see a bug eye in the center. Or, is that chocolate. Rich
Or... it is a bugs eye view... :D
Neat one Rich...
A tri colored rope. Two metalics and one fly. Rich
Hey Rich,
that looks like a fancy piece of hard candy... But I still think I would pass on it tho... fly candy... Only a big kid would invent sumtine like that...
Probably make lots from those little kids... and all the (yuck) natural flavors, would mean the mommas would gladly buy em for the kiddies... :D
A starfish sleeping. Rich
Hi Rich -- I love your image that looks like metalic ribbons. Great stuff!
Regards, Ross
Thanks Ross,
Acrylic uses a vector approach to reflection maps, however, other applications can use the opaque maps in a bitmap method. I have tried these in the KTP modules. The transparent series of maps only work in E3/Acrylic. I made these with Xara and AutoFX Gel. There is a series of gazing balls in this forum that work nicely as maps. Painter has a KTP plugin. I think PSP can use maps. I have a metallic and shell series. I didn't know if there was any interest here. Rich
There is interest, I just do not have the software you post you use. :)
John,
You should be able to use this rope image in one of Egg's articulated brushes.
I think the Acrylic beta expires in December, but the MS E3.3 doesn't expire, as I remember. This is not unique to the version. Rich
I guess I will have to play with it a little bit more. Right now I have a full plate and not much time to pway. :)
An articulated brush in Xara X1. Rich
pretty cool frame Rich...
So when are you gonna try taking a shot of the moon? You must have a zoom lense with that fancy toy of yours. If not, you can pick up a cheapy manual lense for not much at all. :)
I had taken a few shots of the moon, but there is too much moisture and ambient light. We went to the beach the other morning, and we were 2000 feet closer. This made a big difference by getting out of the clouds, but I didn't have a tripod or the 400 mm lens.
A couple of the other fills if you want to make some brushes.
Rich
Thanks Rich.
I have put them in my gotta pway with this stuff folder... some night, I will play with them. Most likely after it cools down a bit more. Still cooking here in my puter room, so do not pway too long.
A brass grid map. Rich
Although pretty neat, I do not care for the color of this one. :o
John,
Not to worry, I have lots of map in just about every color.
A steel pipe attempt with an articulated brush. Rich
Hey Rich,
saved it for the cooler times with the other .xar... thanks!
John,
A few of the metal maps together. I did find a way to enable on screen transparency of the transparent reflection maps. So, this is done in place.
Rich
pretty Cool rich,
Now take a nice picture and make a classy A$$ frame for it. :D
The bottom image has an object in front with a variable transparency map. In Erase blending, the map can be used to feather the edge. Rich
Cool Rich, nice tip there... Thanks...
An expirment with half transparent strokes. With a half transparent stroke, I can apply color to one side of a path. I had to make a forward and reverse stroke to change direction. Rich
If you change the stroke to a tapered one, it might just look like a pretty good feather. :)
This was rectangular stroke that I was editing the width profile. I don't quite understand how to do that. Rich
Doesn't it have a line gallery of some sort? which app where you us  ing to do the feather?
John,
This is in Acrylic using an image stroke. If I was using a pen, I could get a variation. This is creating a constant width, and then editing the width with shape nodes. That is a separate tool. The tool goes in the same direction regardless of path direction. I one case, the adjustment is backwards. I am not sure how to get a smooth shape. I have been thinking it has to do with the path itself because there didn't seem a way to change the shaping nodes.

A shading map used to shade the grout lines. Rich
Hi Rich,
the grout looks good. the tiles are too shiny or something... :D
John,
Not to worry, these are just expirments. They don't last more than a day.
Rich
cool Bugwing Frame Rich...
Really like the picture. Who's the babe? :)
(Acrylic) I was trying to fill an image into a set for objects, but I couldn't get the fill position correct. So, I took the dot matrix, and placed it over a rectangle, and applied erase mode. This gave a reverse matrix. I grouped this and sent it to a pixel layer to be rasterized. Then back to a vector layer to be used as a Ping Mask. I used the mask over the image and set the blending mode to erase.
John,
That was Laura's aunt. I heard she moved to Kansas in a Tornado. Rich
