I have some splash pages which collect data as follows
Name
Confirm email
Telephone
Call Back Time
and a submit button
I have Forms2go which I used with another web package (site spinner pro) but I am not sure how to use this with Designer Pro 8 as I can't find a way to create an input form has anyone used F2G with DP?

Yes, you need the embed code which you can add to a Placeholder object. (Website Properties > Placeholder > HTML Code (body)
Hi Gary - OK but how do I create the input form? with my previous program I created the form then dropped onto F2G - how does it know which input box to assign to each field name - do I have to name each box? has anyone got an example of a form I could follow?Quote:

Can the form widgets in DP 8 (and soon to be released 9) be edited i.e. change the input fields? - I can't test this as I am running DP 8 Trial and it disables certain widgets (I am upgrading to Ver 9 when it comes out in July)
The widgets in Xara Designer link to the the third party home page where the forms are configured and are hosted.
But yes, many allow you to change and add custom fields.
I use Simfatic Forms - it costs about £50 but you get a trial for 30 days. Really good.
You need a server that handles php.
Thanks for all the tips - the annoying thing is I have a paid subscription to forms2go but they just create the php script you have to create the form elsewhere I have tried a couple of sites but I can't seem to get it to work - If anyone has done this with forms2go can you post an example for me to follow.
BTW there is a difference between www.form2go.com and the one I have - forms2go from www.bebosoft.com

I also use Jotform (which is actually free if you don't have many submissions per month), and find them pretty effortless in terms of integration. However they have been known to go offline occasionally and I have found their facility to pass form data onto a Google Drive spreadsheet to be somewhat flawed. For the simple processing of forms though they are pretty reliable.
I have also recently downloaded Formoid (http://formoid.com/), which is a beta project by the guy or guys who make WOW Slider and CSS3 Menus etc. I haven't actually tried using it with XDP yet since I haven't had a project since I got it that required a form but it looks like it ought to work OK.
Formoid may or may not turn into a viable product. I have used the beta and it is very straight forward, but the last beta was in May and I may not live long enough to see the actual product. :rolleyes:
You can integrate it into Xara products using a placeholder.

Hello Pete - Here are the 2 files Forms2go produce. You first point F2G to the html web site it then saves a settings file then it saves the PHP code that you upload to the host server. As SSP has input forms built in there is no place holder required. what I need to do using Xara is produce a form with some form creation tool - create the html code and parse it with F2G application then place the html code on the ? place Holder or maybe the body/header area then upload the PHP code to the server. - I think F2G has a free trial so you could check it out if you want - The main benefit of doing it this way is as the PHP code is on your host server you are not being charged for every form that is processed and you can process as many as you like and F2G is only $30 so its a money saver!

I have been testing formstack and I am getting a strange result - I have created a contact form and in placeholder I have entered the html code in the body area it all seems fine until I preview the web page the form I just created appears at the bottom as it should (it actually over runs but that can be fixed) but it also then changes the background and places a slightly different form at the top of the page. I have checked and rechecked and I can't fathom out why it should be do this - I attach the .xar file hopefully someone can give some hints!
You have entered the html for a whole webpage into the Web Properties / Website / HTML Code (body) place holder. You should only enter html snippets, not whole pages. The .css file referenced is likely overriding the page background and the form is a result of that html as well. If you remove that code, the page displays as you would expect.Quote:

Haven't tested, but this should work. Position your placeholder where you want the form to appear. In your placeholder, you should only need to put the html between <form> and </form> (including those tags), from the form you created outside of Xara.Quote:

Geoff I use this one to great success:http://www.formmail-maker.com/generator.php. Designs the form and Produces all the files for you to upload and the html to place into a place holder to display the form. You can have as many on a page as you want as they can all be uniquely referenced. This is one I did which gathers a lot of information for a booking form http://cradleyvillagehall.org.uk/charges.htm.

Webdesigner seems to generate HTML in the order in which layers are used. So if you have a layer with the HTML for the beginning of a HTML form, a second layer with fields for that form and a third layer that closes the form tag (</form>) and on the layer holding the fields, you design whatever you want, as long as form fields are used, the form is sent with information.
In short, along with the screenshot. I have a layer with a placeholder that has the following content: <form action="http://www.mywebsitehere/mailer.php" method="post"> (the red rectangle in the screenshot) on the !--Form begin layer. The fields are on a layer between the !form begin and !form end layer. (see the button too?).
If this looks good, I can give the PHP script too.
