Selector handle problem DPX+
Just giving DPX+ a test drive (in demo mode).
Not sure if the following is expected behaviour, but it's different to PGD (v16.1.1) and not desirable.
1. draw a horizontal 0.5pt line (any length) using the Straight line Tool.
2. Select the line using the Selector Tool
3. Drag the right end of the line to increase its length (with both Aspect ratio lock and Smart Transform selected/active).
At 100% zoom with PGD the end of the is easily selected and dragged out and the original line weight is maintained.
Attachment 127825
In DPX+ the end of the line is virtually impossible to select at 100% zoom and results in line weight scaling up as you pull out the line - because it’s the skew arrow that has been selected.
Attachment 127826
Not a fan of the new selector handles. Nice to have an option to turn them off.
Re: Selector handle problem DPX+
how are you activating the smart shape?, I ask because I cannot duplicate your problem with DPX 0.0.58732 it is just a .5 pt line

This issue occurs when using Xara Designer Pro+ (XDP+). Sorry for confusion Larry, it was late when I posted and I gave the wrong name to the program I was referring to.

Hi Jonopen,
Thanks for your feedback! The changes made to the handle controls have just started and your feedback is exactly what we need to give our users a great experience!
We work on a solution to solve this issue. Stay tuned :)
Have a great day

Re: Selector handle problem DPX+
@Eva, perhaps you have missed the Feedback in https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...260#post628260 and its following Post.
While we are at it, if you select an Object and Zoom out the Rotating Head, the Skew Neck and the Vertical Shrink/Grow Body all expand to overwhelm other Objects, making their selection (the whole point of a Selector) nigh on impossible.
A thin Rectangle needs to go up to 320% and a slightly slanted Line 1250%.
You have added a shed-load of additional steps to my workflow unnecessarily.
It is exacerbated when in Outline mode.

Hi Acorn,
Thanks for the hint. Regarding your issue, I am not fully sure if I understood what you are talking about.
Could we have a quick zoom call (just send me a pm) or could you create a little vid, so I understand it better?
Looking forward to your response :)
Best,
Eva

Eva, no time for Zoom today.
Quite simple really.
I have a high-end machine and this is what I see at x32:

Re: Selector handle problem DPX+
Another issue.
Multi-page view and select an Object close to the top of the page in a page after the first and the Head control is decapitated.
Attachment 127830
Not really impressed.
Again, for me anyhow, another surprise discovery is you can still rotate from the corners, why have a Head control at all?
Rather than have the pointer magically supply the control function, surely proximity to a control should have the control open its wares for display?
The Neck Skew or other skew controls have a very narrow hit area. All are very dependent on the current Zoom.
The old controls always kept the same margin regardless of Zoom factor.
A fail, sorry.

Re: Selector handle problem DPX+
Why change these things that have worked extremely well in the past. Isn't this just change for change sake? Not only that but as posters have pointed out it doesn't function in a meaningful manner as did the previous iteration.

Re: Selector handle problem DPX+
Another annoyance is the bounding box is a lot of eye candy that actually distracts from the design.
None of it is selactable, other than the control regions so why is it needed?
The bounding box is so intimate with a Rectangle that it makes the Object appear damaged.
This affects the presentation of my buttons.

Re: Selector handle problem DPX+
Dear Xara...
I am concerned that you are cherry-picking Threads and ignoring others.
To update a product and declare it is in development is rum, inviting people to beta, going forward.
Have you read https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...on-consistency, which is in favour but with a twist?
Have you read https://www.talkgraphics.com/showthr...Selectors-Fail, which is a disaster?
In summary, the new controls get in the way at low zoom, have little to indicate the modes available, get cut off, obscure other design objects, are inconsistent and just vanish.
Thank you for the Registry setting to revert.
