Mook and Kai's tenth birthday today at the beach. Rich
Rock at the hidden beach. It was an unkown beach for some time, but now it is hidden by beer bottles.
The surf bubbles at the second beach.
Rich
might want to check on those crabs in the BUBBLY sand.....ever seen a giggly crab?:p
so your retriever's are litter mates?
nance
I haven't seen any sand crabs lately. Not sure what they are called.
We got Mook as a puppy, and saved Kai a year later. They are litter mates. He didn't have the best start, but is doing fine now.
Rich
the crabs in the BUBBLY was actually intended as a joke:D
so which is Mook and which is Kai? the beige looks like a big male....
nance
Kai is lighter and longer hair. Mook is more red with a flat coat.
I made a linear tile into a spring stroke to see how it would look.
Rich
Rich what a great picture of Mook!! that's a keeper for memory lane
so tell me what a linear tile is?
nance
Nance,
Linear tiles are seamless in one direction. Other tiles are seamless in two directions. Not all my linear tiles are seamless, however.
Rich
A seamless tile in two directions, and one I use as a stroke in a linear way.
Rich
I like those red-berry-things. I understand what seamless tile in one direction is from post #8, but this latest confuses me. is the 'pattern' image the stroke (tile) in a linear mode?
nance
The background is seamless tile. The object border is a linear tile made into an image stroke. As a stroke, it will flow with the shape. It is a repeating image instead of a continuous image. The tile matches end to end. The other image has a continuous linear tile.

A dragonfly I prepared to show at a garden viewing this morning. Rich
ALL of your stuff is simply magnificent!!!! (and i love your dogs!)
gotcha on the explanation this time. awesome dragonfly wings
nance
Thanks Bob and Nance,
The dragonfly was for a friend of Laura that is an oil painter. She does datailed paintings, and liked the print. It took about ten minutes. The drawings have been done for some time, I just needed to color them. The wing cells were filled with a tin map at about 60% transparency. Some emboss gets the shaping of the cells. These were in XPR format for EGD. maps and things are at the MS forum. The XAR files are at TG. An easy way to color and a cell set is done in a group.

A stroke erase in EGD, and saturation boost in Extreme. Rich
An assembly of separate pieces. The leaves and stem are image strokes. Rich
The hummingbird so far. Rich
A similar method of making an image transparent in Xara is to use a grayscale image, and the transparent function. Rich
this all looks interesting. I'll try to catch up here, but right now pretty focused on my xara xtreme thread-- and other things away from the forum

A map from a bug macro shot. Practice for when big bugs arrive. We have seen about three butterflies so far. I read this is one of the worst years (in about 35) because of the weather, and many species may disappear. Rich
The map applied. Rich
OOOOOOO! Nice!!!!!
Bob,
The border map.
TRM Transparent Reflection Map
Ring Ring type
F10 fly map color source
This was made twice and has transparency between the rings as well as in the center. So, double ring.
Rich
what's a doudle ring Rich?
first off, doudle is the california way of spelling doodle
secondly, a doodle (or doudle) ring is simply a circular doodle
[perhaps doudle is the ENGLISH was of spelling it, i'm not sure...]
Fixed it. Should have been double.
Although, since this was my discovery, I may rename the series with you guys in mind.
A view of the ring series.
Rich
Bee in a bee frame from a black bee bottom and made into a bee ring map.
Be it as it will.
Rich
Rich. you are changing:eek: you are bee-ginning to bee funny. its a nice change.;) stay on the rich bug path... like your bug map:D
-- "oh, crud. I got one of your bugs in my teeth....."
nance
Nance,
I have been having difficulty getting rose shots without strong highlights. Another problem is getting the rose overexposed with a dark background. I shot this at F11 & 125 with flash assist the same as the bugs.
I saw one butterfly today. Too windy to photograph. I suppose I could be funny by some random chance, but I am certainly not lucky.
I have heard engineers aren't funny by degree.
Rich
well your humor has bested me on this. so have to ask; are you meaning not funny by 'college degree', or not funny by 'degree of measurement'? sorry for spoiling it!:( do do more humor--its refreshing:) :) my attempt at humor certainly dosen't always work
your rose and stem/leaves wants to take my breath away. but can't really see the flower sharply cuz my eye-lids are desperatly trying to shut and lock their windows
well, I think its pretty clear that all over the country the climate is all messed up
Nance,
BSME
A tiny spider from the garden, and a tile from it.
Rich
Very cool!
Very cool for a spider to need to wear a fur coat.
Nice smile, don't you think.
Rich
my what big eyes you have ( )
your chilly spider looks down in the dirt
really great bee
and no blury eyes now--and that rose really does take my breath away. thanks very much for sharing
nance
wow, i assume your camera is not a Barbie and Ken made by Mattel model...
Thanks Nance,
I had a dragonfly pose today. Very windy, but I got a few good shots. I have a few more bud photos. Various colors.
Bob,
A view of the camera with a 100mm macro lens and additional flash. I have an off camera flash cable, too.
Rich
Yikes! Really Really Nice!!!!!
An expirment with bee color and a multi ring map. Rich
