FTP to subdomain not working
I've tried to put a subdomain like customtumblers.susannb.com into the public_html/customtumblers and it won't work.
See screenshot. Is this something that WebDesigner can't do or am I entering the information wrong?
I've taken out username and password for privacy. See screenshot

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Sue the url should be :
susannb.com/customtumblers
Which does work ;)

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Sue, I would also change the Website URL to http://susannb.com/customtumblers/.

Have changed it as you wrote but still getting ftp error login
Took another screenshot in case there's still something not right and you see it.

If you're sure your user/pass are correct, try dropping the menu under Connect Using and choose FTPS (FTP over SSL/TSL). Leave the other settings as is.
If you click Explore Web Space, what error do you get?

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
I'm sure the username and password are good. I've even copied the password to be sure.
I tried this and still get "FTP error: Login denied."
sub-folder set to public_htl/customtumblers/
website URL set to: https://susannb.com/customtumblers/
Here's a screenshot of the cpanel

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
By creating additional FTP accounts and setting the subdomain root as the home directory under the "FTP access" menu, you can limit directory access.

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Sue the link you provied is correct:
https://susannb.com/customtumblers/

You can log into cPanel, Sue. Are you really, really sure you're using the same login details, they should be the same.

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Yes, I can log into the Cpanel. And yes, correct, did some edits to try to get the program to work.
I am using the exact same username and password. Still get login failed.

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Thanks, Egg. But still not working to login. It says login failed.

Sue, you mentioned you copied the Password. Copying can go wrong for logins if your copy adds a trailing Space. The safest way is to type both carefully.

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Acorn, I've done both, hand done and copy and pasted.
Just deleted the login and started over and it's still getting FTP error: Login denied. When it fails, comes back with another popup for the password, I put it in and again fails.
My password has a capital, numbers and symbols...I know this should not matter, but something is not working.
I appreciate all your suggestions and if you have more, I am happy to try to make this work.
Need more screenshots? Let me know..

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Silly question but worth pointing out:
You basically have two sites for customtumblers,
the main one (http://susannb.com/customtumblers/)
and one for your shop (https://www.customtumblers.us/shop/)
Are you sure your not getting the url, username & password for these two seperate sites mixed up?

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Egg, thanks for asking. I am in the process of moving all my crafting websites onto this one susannb.com website.
I stuck the files into the folder but have not checked all other links and that "shop" link is made with a different program, so still housed on the customtumblers.us site. And no, I am not confusing the username and password. But what I can tell you is I went and made a 1-page webpage for the "home" index page and it's not working to upload to susannb.com but the Cpanel and Dreamweaver work fine with the same username and password, so it's WebDesigner password or one of those settings I'm not doing right.
I'd like to change the password but Cpanel control how complex it can be and so I'm not sure how to fix this..

I've changed the password, and even with that done, I can't even upload without the same login error to susannb.com directly and not under the subdomain.
Works fine to use cpanel with username and password and also in dreamweaver, just not web designer...
What else can it be?

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
I'm grabbing at straws, but to eliminate something weird with that one project.
Create a new, blank, web document and fill in the FTP details, then click Explore Web Space. Do you get the same error?
-
Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Sue, if root/public_html is your susannb.com domain then the required sub-folder is just customtumblers.

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Sue did you change the transfer to FTPS as suggested by Chis M in this post

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Thanks, Acorn. I went back to just trying to upload a first page from Web Designer to susannb.com and it gives me the same error.
Chris asked me to create a new page and try using the explore web space and again, tried what he suggested and the same error.
This is so frustrating that it should work...
And Acorn, appreciate the correct information, and if I can get a homepage up with ftp to the public_html, then I will move forward with your suggestion.

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Chris, I made a new page, tried with FTPS and FTP just to Susannb.com and the same error message, can't login.

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Sue, some providers use different password's for the website hosting and the cpanel. I suggest you contact your hosting and explain your problem to them. The problem doesn't lay with Xara as too many of us use it without problems ;)

Re: FTP to subdomain not working
Such a good suggestion and that's what I've done.
We changed username and password, but that should not have been an issue. Before proceeding, I rebooted. All is working correctly now.
Sigh...we have one more experiment to try to see if it had to do with the "username" but we don't think sol
Thanks for all the suggestions. Now I have "susannb" working and I was able to do the subdoman now too! Yipeee
Hugs to you all for your effort to help a person in distress.....

Sue, I'm pretty sure I have a handle on this (finally). I'll get back to you tomorrow after I publish to my addon domains.

Good on you, Sue. I have avoided this issue for months as I could publish easily via FileZilla. My issues weren't exactly the same as yours, but I finally had the time to sort them out. All five websites now publish directly from Xara as intended, a much quicker method.
