HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA! Cool!!!!!
Very interesting. Synchronizing things like these is very difficult. Great work.
I remember seeing something like this from one of the forums I visit. Can't remember where, but it is similar, only bigger, with lots of machineries and stuff. Even pixel people, I think...
Long time since I've done any pixel artwork. This is another great idea from you, Kiwi. Maybe later?
A quick Google search on blue ball machines turned up some interesting links. None of them animated, though, and certainly not the very well made one I remembered...

But here is a BIG animated one:
http://blueballfixed.ytmnd.com/
The last link above is the one that I saw a week or so ago that got me thinking.
My little anim is made using vectors/paths (not pixel painting) and even though small, it seemed to take forever.
Unfortunately, I tried doing the same using Xara! (Far better!!)
Now I'm finished another even bigger one but won't be putting it on any site because the more I look at it ... the more I want to add!
Maybe one day:D
I think the animation tools in PI are much better for a purpose like this, very clever, Kiwi, love it --- really! Tweening and animating along a path in a timeline is not available in Xara that I know of.
DRAW has R.A.V.E. and I have frankly never used it once. But you can do path animation in that .
Inspired again by Kiwi. Here is a preview of a similar thing, done in PI8 and UGA5. It's still a work in progress, so I would probably add some more things later. Funny thing I noticed is that UGA has no mirror function for the objects, where you can mirror flip things vertically or horizontally. Also, copying and pasting objects from PI to UGA doesn't seem to preserve transparency...
One nice thing, though is that objects can be moved around from frame to frame, so objects can be used again and again at different positions for different frames. No onion skin view, though, where you could overlap views of adjacent frames to check the relative positions. But hey, nothing's perfect...:D
Geesh GM!
Another good one ... Love it:D
Great idea of the rotating arms, I might try something similar as part of the big one thats very slowly growing in the bowels of my Xara animator;)
Yep! I mean bowels as it's becoming a right s...t of a job concentrating on the hundreds of little parts:eek:
To flip objects in UGA, you need to use the "Favorite Image Editor" button and take the particular frame back to PI where you can adjust it as you want and (save back to UGA directly).
Sally:)
I've never used the animating features of PI, prefer to make my frames and objects in PI, save as ufo's, then open with uga and use the copy/paste function to complete it. More personal to me I spose:cool:
Xara doesn't have tweening but Ulead doesn't have blending :D
This is addictive...
Another update. Slowly hacking away. No real theme though, just adding things and stuff.
Yep, that's what I finally ended up doing, exporting in PI and sending it back to UGA. Pixel stuff can also be made in UGA alone. In fact, the pencil tool works better than in PI. You can paint on transparency on new or old objects, which you can't do in PI.
How about a sneak peek on your project, Kiwi? Still pics are OK, as I imagine turning vector artwork to gif animation would be a big task. Me, I work mostly in UGA, so previewing and exporting this is easy...
You guys could make an animation showing the movement of blood through the heart and lungs and how the blood is getting oxygenated.
Or one of how progress moves through the wheels of goverment and it all comes out costing a fortune for the Bandini you could collect for free from your cat or dog. Now that would be making a political statement.
hahahahahahahahaha
These animations are mind boggling great!!!!!!!!!!
Keep em a comin GM!:D
Whatever you're doing, it looks great!
Addictive .. Naa!
But must admit to wondering what happens when your page gets full?? lol
Actually! Vector images are animating quite well using xara, not sure if my project is quite as clear as yours but have managed to fill a tiny corner so far of the 400 x 400 background:(
I can't wait to see what you come up with next ... Excellent so far:)
Sneak preview of mine?
GM ... That would be peeking;)
Ok! GM, Ah changed me mind, here's a quickie for ye at half size:D

Haha, looking great, Kiwi. You forgot I have great BIG eyes! Look at the avatar...:D
When it become really big, I would probably save it as a transparent gif animation then reimport it into a bigger canvas. Not much chance on this one getting any bigger though. The file size is starting to grow big. Even though it is just an 18 frame animation and I tried my best to keep the number of colors low. What will YOU do if your project grows into the Megabyte range? It would be murder to view for those on dial-up....
Another update, probably the next one will be the final version. Just have to think up of something to fill the blank space on the right side.
Forget the BIG eyes! I know you've got "Save as" open with gif animator:eek:
Problem with saving as transparent bg is the kb's shoot up over using a white bg.
Better draw some brain cells to finish your anim (Not mine as they are all dead!)
Kb's? .. Mb's? .. Gb's? ..... Might have to supply free coffee and a haircut so those on dial-up can fill in the time while my anim opens:D
The blueball one I first looked at was over 800kb's
Just spent over 5 hours and only managed to add a teensy bit more to the existing pic. (I'm sure that you've gotta be crazy to be an aMiNator:eek: )
Keep em comin GM ... They're exce;;ent:D
That's why they invented Flash....:D
If it's going to be vectors, that's the route to take. Those gif files gets enormous for complicated animations. And the lag gets worse with bigger images, too.
Crazy? I'm beyond that. And you might add blind to the list... staring at those test runs over and over is starting to blur my vision...
I found a workaround for the mirror flip in UGA, just scale the object towards the center vertically or horizontally and go beyond that back towards the bounding box of the object, which is always displayed and thankfully remains static while scaling...
OK, my final version. If this project is going to be updated, it's gonna be quite a while. Will be waiting for your project. Just try to finish it before the next century or so...:D
A+++++++++
GOLD STAR!!!!!!
That is really cool!!!! Great job!!!!!!!!
Fun animation Gman. Are you hoping to end up with something like this eventually? (Just a little something to put a grin on your face.)
WOW!!! That is INSANE!!!!!
Incredible!!! what patience and eyesight to evolve that lot.

Lonnie! What a relief to see you posting again. I kept checking your blog since I posted a message there, and it went quite a long time without any response. Got me worried there for a while. Glad you're OK man.
Hehe, that link was on the first page of this thread. It's what sparked this topic, as Kiwi said.
Tried to post my (ball factory) anim but it's not uploading properly to photobucket??
Will try another day
Hi Kiwi. I was once told NOT to upload our files to photobucket and that this forum prefers we upload them directly here.
Bob,
I have never before had trouble with PhotoBucket and without it I have no other way of showing my pics?
They can't be uploaded here straight from a folder ... Can they???
Yes, they can, and that is what is prefered. After you type in your message go to manage attachments below and then BROWSE for your directory and then Upload.
Thank's for that:)
Trying here and got it to upload but how do you "Add" the attachment?
... Working fine so please disregard above question thank's:)
GM!! No peeking:)
well, you got it to upload so i assume that the attachment was added
if you mean you want to add the actual file for others to look at and play with, that i dunno... some other kind soul will fill you in on that
i assume you just pick another file type
There is a list of file types you can upload. If it's not on the list, perhaps you could zip it and upload that. Then there is the file size limit, but it's pretty generous for most things.
Wow, you have it finished I see. Much more complicated than anything I could come up with. Gotta save this one to the disk to study and enjoy. No, you can't say no, either, Kiwi. This one's right clicked....:D . Hehehe...(evil laugh)
Yeah, Gman, I'm still kickin'. Don't let anyone tell ya that open heart surgery is fun -- it ain't :(
Anyway, here's a similar type animation done way back in '91.
LonK, you just had open heart surgery? well, God bless you!!!!!
Both clever clever clever. Lonk let's hope your op makes a new man of you. Takes time I know.
Love that little animation Lonk!
Using the dark background makes it more effective and very clear.
Might try another myself one day soon.
Thank's for sharing.
'91? I think I wasn't even born yet ...:D .
Wow, that's amazing, Lonnie. I didn't know you were doing these things or even remotely interested in them. The colors and movements are perfect. I like the acceleration when the ball is hit by the hammer. So what program did you use to create this? I remember a site where the author has some graphics made by hand coding the placement and colors of the pixels, the way they did it with the very early video games, but I doubt your pics were done the REALLY hard way...:D :D
I'm gonna need an open brain surgery if I try to duplicate something like this...
Wow, Lonk, cool and impressive. Sorry to hear you have not been well, hope all is on the road to improvement now, that is.
Yeah, Gman, I played with all sorts of things back in the day. This ani was made with AutoDesk Animator which made a .flc file. I converted it to .gif in '99, though I don't recall what proggy I used for that. I was surprised how lean the .gif is (89Kb) especially considering the gradients, smooth movement and number of frames.
Your animation and Kiwi's last one just gave me an idea. But don't hold your breath just yet... :D
