In the 3d graphics forum RJ started a thread about trying to create CD cover art in a hiphop style. I thought he might get more interest here as the topic relates more to illustration than 3d graphics. So it is that we have a new challenge if you are up to it...
Design a imaginary CD cover for future big-time recording star: Scruff-Dog. His pic, as provided by RJ, is attached for your use. You can find lots of examples of hiphop style here if you aren't familiar with it.
Have fun!
Regards, Ross

Ross, you need to get down and get funky. Your image is too architectual and clean. It needs dirt and chaos, don't you think?
Maybe you should call yourself, Ross the Boss. Eh, no on second thought, someone beat you to it :-)

I too find my image too crisp - Particularly the billboards. I think I'll revisit the illustration.
Please do try this challenge. None of this too old stuff around here! The style features over-the-top excess - That can be fun! I don't listen to hiphop myself. (I do have one rap cd - Everlast's 'Whitey Ford Sings The Blues'. I really like it).

Yo, it woz few months and year ago, the last and first time when I was smoking a cigar. The service was quite funky, but the last day was a real hip-hop exeprience. Sorry for da lousy imitation of da cool language of da hip-hop'n'funky doodz, still, if you ever hear my accent you wouldn' recognize it from da Jamaican ;-). Peace! I dig the spray paint look! It wasn't your buddy in uniform's last day was it? He doesn't look as happy as you

I wouldn't know hip hop if it bit me on the arse, but here's my effort.

It looks like this new music might have you confused. I thought I should advise that the Scruff-Dog and yours truly are not the same person. I'm much more handsome (sorry Scruff but you're a Dog afterall). The pic of Scruff-Dog originated with RJ Swift - it is some friend of his.
I like the hat you added. My hat has little 'Pooh' bears on it. Also, I never wear big plaid shirts - I can almost always be seen wearing a sleaveless 'muscle-shirt'. (On the internet you can dress however you want).

I should have read your original posting more closely. I thought this was you messing about with your portrait image again.
I've altered my original image now.
I thought large check shirts were compulsory for you Canadians! You'll be telling me you don't go to work rolling a log on the river next ;-)
Dmagician. The water droplets are fantasic, as is your "sleeve notes" humour.

Hmm.. Thinking about the content of that last image of mine, I came to suspicion that Ross could take this last pamphlet of mine a little bit insensitive. But believe me it wasn't meant as some sarcastic double meaning comment or accusation aimed on you Ross, or anyone else, it's a sort of Leslie Nielsen (or Monty Python?) type of humour. Vague and on the first sight totally misplaced reaction on the latest discussions in the gallery...

This was done mainly in Xara, although I worked on "Snuffy's" pic a bit in PS 5.5, cleaningout the background and such.
I have to give credit to the following fine folks:
Rolex watches
Daimler-Chrysler automobiles
Hennesy fine spirits
Comstock photographs
The beautiful Halle Berry
I spent about an hour and a half. Could have done a much better job with proper images, more time and possible financial gain! It was kinda fun, though. First time I've composited images like this in Xara. So much to learn!

with this one.
Especially Dmagician's. Dmag, your sense of hunor is wonderful. Loved the jab at the other thread!
Gary V., I really like all the references to the huge amounts of money associated with hip-hop. The aritsts in this area of music seem to really like to flaunt their riches. The only things I'd change is, Scruff Dog needs a bunch of gold chains hangin' 'round his neck, and the car needs to be a lowrider and should appear to be bouncing up and down.
When I was a teen your ride had to be low and cruise slow, today, they're still low and slow, but they bounce 4 feet in the air at the same time!
Go figure dude!
