Hello dvknig2,
Welcome to Talkgraphics.
I moved your post from the Xara Flash forum to the Xara3D forum.
There are several tutorials available explaining how to make your logo spin.

http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=27403

i know its cheeky but was hoping someone would do it for me, never mind thanks alot for the links will try and crack it myself:confused:
Welcome dvknig2. Unfortunately we get unindated with "make my logo spin" requests. We're more than happy to help a member create their own animation but we won't do it for you.
what software do i need, dont want to buy any just to make one logo.
Hi Dave,
Posting in the Xara3D forum sort of makes it a Xara3D software related thread and discussion. So you will need Xara3D software to create your logo.
It isn't that expensive actually, but you can try the demo for 30 days though anything you create will be watermarked.
If you are unwilling to buy a copy, then it's not going to be possible to help you create your logo - sorry :(
If you want to have a go at the spinning logo, firstly you will have to remove the white background or you will have just a spinning logo on a white rectangle. You also really need a higher resolution graphic, too if one is available. I started drawing a new version, but you'll need to be proficient in a vector graphics program like Xara Xtreme (free fully-functioning time-limited trial available here), CorelDraw or Illustrator for this.
Have a look at my tutorial (linked in my signature below).
Who knows, if you can produce an attempt that shows you have put some effort into this project, someone may be able to help you to a successful conclusion.
Saludos,
Bob.
I downloaded the trial version and made a start on the logo, just trying to get it smaller now. i also want it to be a bit brighter , will have a play with it, i'm at work at the minute so can't upload the logo to show you how far ive got. Thanks for all the tips and the sample provided, glad i attempted it myself, very rewarding !
Good to see a positive reply, Dave. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

had a bit of trouble tracing the cut out, bit jagged round the edges, but i'll get there.
i take it you can resize it, when i exported the cut out from extreme and put it into xara 3d as a texture it became larger.
That would be my error - I thought I'd seen 'Dave' mentioned earlier. Sorry for that
Like i said bit jagged round the edges, i'd like it smaller as well as i want it as an avatar on my forum. not sure how to put it on the forum either
Dave when you choose 'Export Animation', you can choose the .gif file type and then the 'User Defined' dimensions and other settings.

Depending on your forum software, if vBulletin then Avatars are set in the User Control Panel and Edit Avatar settings.
Image dimensions and kilobyte size is set by the forum administrator.
must be doing something wrong, i export it as an animated gif, but when i go to open it it isnt animated
Hi Dave, I had a look at your .X3D file, and just made some adjustments to the lighting by turning on the lightbulb icon and double-clicking on each arrow and making all lights white. I adjusted their positions to reduce the glare effect.
You could remove the jagged edges by using the ellipse tool in Xtreme. If you hold down the Ctrl key when dragging, the tool will draw a perfect circle. Make the circle the same size as the original logo, and align them centrally. With the new circle and the logo selected, go to the Arrange Menu and choose combine shapes/intersect shapes, or press Ctrl + 3 on the keyboard.
Your logo will now be a perfect circle.
Do you have access to a better example of the original graphic? Your result looks pixellated because the image you are using as a texture is of a low resolution. I don't know if you are at a skill level with Xara Xtreme to hand trace your own version of the logo to use as a texture?
It's all coming along nicely so far.

still cant manage to put it on the forum as you've just done, when i save it as an animated gif, it changes to just a gif image.
Is it possible you are using the Export... option and not the Export animation... option?
Bill, what I think the problem is that as what is required is an avatar, the file size is too large for this to be possible.
What needs to be done, Dave is to reduce the animation values and the export dialogue values as shown in my tutorial. You have to get the file size to under 20 kb.

Here's a vector of the crest. You can use this to create a decent texture.
It's always great to see members putting in the effort.
Hope you don't mind if I have a go at this too.

I just used the badge as a background.
may not have to get it under 25kb, thers a section in the forum where you can upload an avatar from an internet link so i'm gonna try that, just need to work out how to upload the logo on this forum now like you guys have done, then i can right click, copy and paste the properties into my forum. Still wierd how i export it as an animation, then when i go to open it, its just a gif image.
is this just the link ?
really starting to bug me now, i dont need to get it under 20kb as ive said above, i export it as an animation, it then saves as a gif, i go to open it and its just a gif image, helllllllllllp !
I exported the animation from the X3D file you posted, with the settings as shown in the export dialogue I attached above. The .gif is only 9.5 kb in size.
Your animation settings were the same as I posted above too. You seem to be doing everything correctly. I'm going to upload it as my avatar briefly to see if there's a problem.
Edit: Your file uploaded fine, no problems...it's got me beat why yours won't upload.

is there any particular place you need to export it too, or does it not matter.
At the top of this page on the forum, click on User CP and once there, click on the Edit Avatar option.

Bob.
is there any particular folder i should be exporting it to. i cant think where i'm going wrong as you've said everything is the same as you've done, but it just saves it as a gif image.
I just export to the desktop and then in TalkGraphics, browse to the file from there.

Bob.
did this work
thats worked , get in , oh bugger the grey background !
just used a white background, was that the right thing to do ?
When you save it, it gives you the option to choose transparent.
Make sure that is ticked then save it.
Or if you want to match TalkGraphics sub header colour set the backgound to #e1e4f2 Dave. You can also choose the "crop" option on export and it will create an animation just big enough without the unrequired border
Finished
Well done Dave, I'm sure you feel a well earned sense of achievement now right ;)
Now the question is, are you addicted? :D
http://i26.tinypic.com/28ksn5j.jpg
I wouldnt say addicted, more obsessed, i change it, then i change it some more, and again, well you get the point, only trouble is the jagged edges, thought i drew a perfect circle using the ellipse tool ?
Spot on, Dave. Very well done.

Bob.
