This one is from my creepy kids phase. I call this one Lizzy.
Would that be Lizzy Borden?;)
In real life she was found not quilty of the murders of her mother and father. :)
Actually I labeled it Lizzy after it was created. Couldn't think of anything better to call a little girl with and ax, and, even though I am familiar with the trial and the final verdict, it seemed to fit.
OJ was found not guilty too. :)
Thanks for dropping by Soquili, It's kind of lonely in this part of the talkgraphics forum.
Yes it is rather quiet in this part of the forums.
Perhaps if you post more of your non-Xara art we can get more people dropping in. :D
OK, we'll give it a try.
Hello folks, I call this one midnight snack. It is a hybrid drawn using a simple paint program and Xara Xtreme.
You have a very vivid imagination Mark.
I can never find fireflies that large when I crave a midnight snack. ;)
Thanks Bill. LOL That's probably a good thing.
This one is another Xara/painter hybrid. I created it for a short story I wrote.
I think Lizzie is most appropriate, guilty or not. I like the bird best out of the three, Mark. It is quiet here. I'll go see what I can find.
Thanks Gray, that's always been one of my favorites too. If you find anything good drop me a line and point the way.
Ahhh, nothing like a crystal clear babbling brook to relax by.
This one was done in a paint program called Artrage. Nice and cheap. I prefer the clear sharp images I create in Xara.
This one was conceived in Xara and then finished in a paint program. Another hybrid. I like the way it turned out even though it's not a pure Xara creation..
That turned out very well Mark. It has the look of a pencil sketch by a master of the art.
Thanks Bill, the hand drawn look is what I was going for.
like that raven pic
sorta poe etic
tom
I couldn't help but notice that face you put into the tree.
I'd bet that there's more than one face in that there tree, InfoC.
Nice collection of art in a multitude of styles, Mark. I enjoyed wandering about on your web site.
tom c - Glad you like it.
InfoCentral -
HayTay - Thanks. I've been busy working on my website the last couple of days, hope it didn't impact your experience. Glad you enjoyed it.
Another Xara/painter hybrid, though this one is mostly Xara.
This is my first non-digital entry in my non-Xara art thread.
Oil on canvas. I call it "Waiting".
I like the Crow to, very good makes one think. Did she or didn't she. Guess it doesn't really matter now. The sketches are great and I like the lion painting well done. ;)
Thanks ontos and welcome to the forum.
I like to draw old men, this one is called Fuzzy. I like how the name can be taken in a few different connotations with this painting.
Oil on canvas.
Hi Mark,
Very good painting. Reminds me of some old men I knew many years ago, especially the Shell cap. :)
Now I'm the old man, minus the cap. ;))
Thanks Bill. Yup, those caps were popular for awhile. I'm not too far behind you.
Well done, Mark. That face tells a real story.
This particular painting has always been among my very favorites. Sadly it was lost when my sister left her now ex-husband and he kept the painting.
This rather poor photograph is the only record I have left to testify of its creation.
Here is an oil on canvas to leave you with. Have a great weekend.
Nice work on the oil, Mark. Do you still paint in oils?
Nope. I've gone completely digital. Sorry about the 5 year hiatus before I answered.
Excellent work Mark.
Didn't notice the 5 year break, I've been gone about that time too.
Thanks Keith. I plan on spending more time in the forums now that my situation has changed. Will probably post some more non Xara art this evening.
Here is a alien I did for an old abandoned Xara project called "Cockpit".
If you look really hard you can see the aliens final destination on the top right
monitor of the cockpit. All of the instruments and the cockpit were drawn in Xara
back when I first bought it and was experimenting. The alien was drawn in a
program called Artrage and superimposed on a background created in Xara.

Made this one in Artrage too. I call it "Bullfrog".

Painted this one in a program called Artrage. I could not
achieved the look I wanted for the eyes so I did them In
Xara a then imported them to the layer behind. I also did
the background in Xara. A bunch of different layers in this
one on both programs.

All very interesting images Mark. I especially like the alien, at first I thought it was a bicycle design; why, because the head reminded me of a banana bicycle seat. That would be interesting wouldn't it to design a bicycle, or motorcycle for that matter with the alien creature look? With a few modifications I think it could work.
Love the granddaughter painting, Mark.
Thanks Larry and Gray. That would be interesting Larry, but I don't think I would want to ride it.
Here's another oil painting of an old man. Oil on canvas. This ones called Bitter Roots.

That's very good, Mark.
