The all new Zebtoonz website!
Well, I finished it! I updated my Zebtoonz website using Xara Designer Pro 7. And I must say, it was a remarkable experience! I am SO glad I chose to do it with XDP7! I mean, it was so easy and so intuitive! Since I am so familiar with Xara--aside from its web design capabilities which I had heretofore never tried--I figured it must be the best way to revamp my site. And it was! I can't say enough about how good it is for web design. I was dreading fumbling around with Dreamweaver again after so many years since I first launched my site, but this was a snap!
Whew! Now I'm gonna take a break! That was a major milestone for me. Ha!

Very nice site Zeb! Looks great! :)

Re: The all new Zebtoonz website!
Hi Zeb.
Great looking web site.
The only criticism I would have is that when you go to one of the sub-menu pages, then the main menu needs to be shown as highlighted.
For example, if I go to 'Creating a Comic' under the 'Tutorials' menu, then when I am at the Creating a Comic page, it doesn't show that I am in 'Tutorials'.
This is only my opinion, of course.
You may prefer it, the way it is.
Otherwise, really a great looking site. =D>

Not a fan of the serif font on the menu drop-downs - jars a bit with the cartoon style of the site.

Re: The all new Zebtoonz website!
very clean site Zeb - very impressive design - and I really do like your tutorials...
[speaking of which.. you use a 5mm technical/mechanical pencil  ! ok - most who already draw would understand it should be 0.5mm, but it might just confuse the newbies :D]

First off, thanks everyone for all the positive comments! Rik, I like your idea! Any idea how I can do that?
Paul, the drop-downs are san-serif when I view them so I can't understand what is happening. I'll have the check the settings in my navbar and see if there is a way to fix that. Thanks for the comment!
Handrawn, oops! A real bonafide boo-boo! Thanks for pointing it out.
One thing I don't like on the Portfolio page is that if you are viewing one of the images or videos and happen to click on the page it pops back to the main image. How do I change that, if I can? I still don't know how to make the page scroll up to the top when a thumbnail is selected. No one has answered that thread yet.

Re: The all new Zebtoonz website!
maybe your drop-down font is not a 'web-safe' one ?

It was Lucida. I think I'm gonna try Comic Sans MS. See how that looks.

You need to lock the layer.
See item 10 here: ► http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...anced-features
Lucida shows on the dropdowns fine here Zeb

How can I do that?

Hi Zeb.
The Xperts, will I'm sure, tell you how this should be done.
I am new to this as you are. I've only done one web site using XDP7.
What I did was to go to the individual pages (the sub-menu ones) and changed the main button to the highlighted colour, manually.
You can see what I did at OSCAR User.

I'm afraid you can't do this natively in WD Zeb.

Well, actually I might have misunderstood what you are trying to achieve as you don't have to add a close button Zeb, you add the close command to the link of the next image.
Give me a little time and I'll post an example.

Re: The all new Zebtoonz website!
Take all the time you need, Steve! I'm thankful for your expert advice!
I read over that point 10 a few times and had a hard time comprehending what it was saying. So, if it's possible, that would be cool! I can live without the scroll up. I tried adding a layer on top and an invisible rectangle over the thumbnail with a link to #portfolio (I added a named anchor on the word) and all that happened is it scrolled up when I clicked on it but disregarded the link beneath to the image/YT link. Seems like you could somehow add that in the code. But, like I said, I can live without the page scrolling up.

I've named the layer 1/2/3/4 respectively just for brevity, but you can name them uniquely as well.
So long as the suffix (lock) is added.
Each thumbnail link syntax then becomes:
popup: "1(lock)", close "2(lock)", "3(lock)", "4(lock)" (opens layer 1 and closes any other which were opened)
popup: "2(lock)", close "1(lock)", "3(lock)", "4(lock)" (opens layer 2 and closes any other which were opened)
popup: "3(lock)", close "2(lock)", "1(lock)", "4(lock)" (opens layer 3 and closes any other which were opened)
popup: "4(lock)", close "2(lock)", "3(lock)", "1(lock)" (opens layer 4 and closes any other which were opened)
No close buttons necessary.
See attached for example.

Re: The all new Zebtoonz website!
Whew! That was a bit of work--but it worked! Thanks so much! I had to type it all out in a text document--what with 16 popups in all--and then paste them all in one by one. Here's the finished page.

Re: The all new Zebtoonz website!
:-bd That's the way Zeb.. Glad to have helped..

Re: The all new Zebtoonz website!
Zeb the site is really nice. I love the illustrations and by using the lighter colours on the site the eye is drawn to the illustrations. Well done and good tip sledger

Re: The all new Zebtoonz website!
Very nice work. I would suggest that you add your blog into your web site. It is very easy to do using an IFRAME.

You mean I can include it as part of my website? How would I do that? Create a new frame, add an iframe and put a link to my blog? Might look strange as my blog has a different color scheme, background, etc.

There is a new Widget included with Xara Designer Pro X (released today) that makes it easy to create an iframe.

Fab site Zebtoonz, if this doesn't bring you some work, I don't know what will.

Re: The all new Zebtoonz website!
Thanks, Ed! Business has been rather sparse these days unfortunately so let's hope this helps drum up some new clients!
