I have just purchased and installed WDP 17. Any reason why I have nothing in the Local Design Gallery and why I am unable to download from the Online Content Catalog?
Miko, you don't download from the OCC, you Import a named file. That file opens into your design page and installs just that file in one of the seven blue folders of the Local Designs gallery.
Open the Local Designs galley, right-click-select one of the headings of these blue folder and pick Download All.
Some downloads can take a very long time.

If you cannot get at any content this way, check your Firewall.
Acorn
Thanks, Acorn, I have seen the articles on this but there is nothing in the Design Gallery to allow me to Download All. I am just wondering if I should uninstall and try reinstalling. AV is not blocking WDP.
Mike, I would Run as administrator the once before considering such a dramatic move.
Acorn
Thanks, tired that but no luck.
Miko, did you read the linked article. It does mention Firewall blocking; this is not the same as AV.
This is what Xara suggests: https://help.xara.com/article/467-my...has-no-content.
If no luck then a re-install (with Firewall off) and a final call to Magix, if that fails. Its response is usually quite quick.

I have since done a system restore and reinstalled WDP but without any luck. I have tried XDPX and WD10 without issue. I have Kaspersky Total Security which does it all. Even Windows Firewall does not have an issue. I will raise a ticket with Magix.
How on earth do you log a ticket with Magix? Ok, figured it out. They don't make it easy do they?
Something is whispering at the back of my head that you are skipping something simple. If you RIGHT click on any of the folders, do you not see the 'Download All' option, or is it greyed out?

Thanks, Chris, there are no folders in the Designs Gallery at all. It is completely empty.Attachment 127299
If you go to the help menu and under it select "Down load content installer and Pan Studio"
Run the content installer and see if that loads the file folders in the local designs gallery.
Ray
Thanks, Ray, I have actually tried that, but the Contents Installer has no connection with the Gallery.
Please could someone[ATTAC H=CONFIG]127360[/ATTACH]help me. I have tried right clicking on the blue folders, but it never offers me the opportuninty to download all. Instead it says 'select all' - which does absolutley nothing if I click on it. What is going wrong and how can I fix it? I am on a surface pro 2018 with windows 10. I enclose a screenshot of what I see... Thank you.
Wrong folders!
Right click on the foldes in your Local Designs Gallery. Not the content catalogue.
You cannot download all the content catalogue.
Pretty pic to reinforce the above:

And more pretty pics ;)
Aha! Now I see. Many thanks Egg, Chris & ss-Kalm. (I love it when people explain things through pictures.) :-)
Good to see you sorted it xKnuckles. If you want to make a backup of the designs:
Pretty pics from pretty people eh, Egg?
Your alien tadpoles (with shadows) looked far more elegant than my caveman finger daubing. But we both hit 'pretty' smack on the head methinks :)
Step two. Add your back-up files to the Local Designs Gallery:
Thanks Egg. Why do I need to add backed up files to the local gallery when it is already full of the originals which I downloaded from Xara's cloud?
xK, 'cos Xara in its "wisdom" chose to put it into your %localappdata% folder and not allow you to store where you want. So one day, your PC chokes and you decide to delete stuff from there not realising it was important as Xara didn't tell you.
Also when Xara gets its revisions wrong; the process is allowed to delete files stored there and, boy, Xara trashed it all away once.
Also when Xara decides to re-organised the folders, items seemingly vanish.
You are therefore not in control.
So save as a fall-back.
Nobody's perfect.
Acorn
Great advice acorn & egg - many thanks. I have done the backup (excellent pictures once again. )
Back to the original problem of a totally blank Local Design gallery.
I installed most of my Xara Desktop applications (XDA) under my MS W10 account name (pretend it is Acorn).
That account got corrupted. I had to create a new one (pretend it is now Oak).
I chose not to de-activate my XDAs installed under Acorn and re-activate under Oak as I have had no indication or guidance from Xara that this is would work.
I also suspect such an operation would force my version back to my purchase version.
In the end I copied Acorn's XDAs' Caches to Oak's XDAs' Caches and all was as it should be.
I hope this helps.

Variation on Miko's issue. All the choices are greyed out and there is no "Download all" option in my "new" version 17 Local Designs Gallery.

Thanks, Acorn. I tried numerous times using your suggestion without success. Then, I right-clicked on the name beside the blue folder and Download All appeared, not greyed out. Subsequently, when I right-clicked on any blue folder the full menu of options appeared. I can't begin to guess why that scenario would play out.
Thank you again for putting me on the right track.
