Bob I don't know exactly what it is other than the obvious syringe. It is very well made. 3D extrudes I believe.
thermal paste?
Nicely done Bob
Nicely done. I also believe it is some kind of syringe.
That was quick handrawn! ;-)
A Preperation H applicator? We brit's have this bottom humour.
Well I was sound asleep in this part of the world when that was posted, but yep Steve J got it right.
it costs the price of three pints [of beer] for roundabout a single toothbrush worth of paste - that sticks in the mind
[however I guess those in the trade get it cheaper :D]
Yes it is expensive stuff, but is does go a long way. The CPU die should only have the thinnest coating, using more TP doesn't result in better cooling.
I easily get up to 6 applications from a single tube.
Here's a screen-shot of what I pay 'dealer' prices for the various types.
So add 10% GST and a fair markup for retail pricing :)
That was way too easy. And it IS Arctic brand. I shall have to come up with something a little more difficult to recognize. Good job, and thanks, guys.
Ok, so what does one do with thermal paste ? I am not familiar with this substance. Is it used for ones bottom? :D
I did think of a reply, but had better not..
It's put onto the top of a processor chip (a very small amount) and is the sandwich filling between the processor chip and heatsink. It ensures efficient heat transfer from the processor chip to the heatsink to try and keep the processor as cool as possible.
Hence the name Artic Silver.
It may also be used on other chips that get very hot (such as graphics processors and the like).

Well done, Bob.
