I like number 1; clever combination! Number 2 reads a bit like a fleur de lis; perhaps french influence is appropriate. Both, well done!
Pro work Gary
Hi Gary.
I prefer the first one.
A slightly thicker font for the number 2 might be worth considering?!
Although I would be surprised if you hadn't.
I also though that the attached might be worth considering?
I tried to give the 'G' more of a 'G' look whilst still being able to see the number '2'.
Well, that's my entry and I'm sticking to it!
No, you won't shift me!
;))
Rik - That is what my partner suggested (a heavier 2) And I have to say, your design looks rather good. :)
I prefer no. 2 by far. Its named two G's, I see two G's. The first one is too complicated for me.
But I guess everybody will see different things looking at the same pictures.
Juergen
I'd leave out the apostrophe if I were you, Gary.
Saludos,
Bob.
Hi Gary.
Fantastic that you liked my effort. Use the design, use the idea and in fact you said that your partner prefers a heavier 2, anyway.
In my opinion, I think it has more effect.
As for the apostrophe that Bob mentions.
If you have something that belongs to someone or something, then you need an apostrophe.
If there is more than one of something, then you don't use the apostrophe.
So, it depends upon what you are trying to say with the company name?!
Or, you could simply call it '2 G Publishing'
:D
Or even 2 Gs Publishing. Given that the topic title is "Two logos for two G's" I'd say that there is no possession intended. "Two G's Two logos" would indicate possession but as it stands, for it to be possessive you would have to ask the question " Two logos for two G's what?", suggesting that the topic title is incomplete in some way. ;)
Saludos,
Bob.
I like the second logo in your original post Gary. :)
I agree with Bob (for once :) ). It does not need the apostrophe because it is not possessive. It is just more than one G and less than three Gs.
Gene suggested 2G 3D since that is what we do. So I tried a solution with that in mind. It works but I always prefer simple.
I also tried a very elegant 2 (Poster Bodoni MT) which plays nicely with the simplicity of the D shape.
Hi Gary,
I like the second one with the elegant 2 (Poster Bodoni MT), looks great.
Best Regards BP
Another couple of contenders.
If it's 'Publishing', then make the centre part look a bit building like, with columns.
It's a thought.
:D
couldn`t resist.
Gary, I think I prefer Riks current final offering that has a building facade built into the logo - quite appropriate for a publishing "house". Give you an air of trust and longevity in a contemporary style.
I think the rounded G pairs can look quite rude and a little rude as a single. Riks first effort with the bold 2 breaking the outline avoided that.
Great choice for a name and it will be a great logo too.
Who is the moderator of this thread because it is full of spamming! The writer who started the thread is advetising a forth comming book and it is full of his logos it should not be allowed. Who is the moderator of the gallery anyway? The second one Gary but still needs slightly tweaked.
Nice work Gary. I like the 2Gs logo 4.png ;)
Hi Gary
I like the original number one with the plain curved '2' in the 'G', clever idea.
How about something like this? There is the '2' in the 'G' ... with the '3' created by the mirror image.
It would need some reshaping to look better ... but just an idea ... oh and did another one with dual colours.
Regards
Su
Brilliant Su, and excellent idea Rik. Denis, nice design but too much happening for my simple tastes.
In the old days I would have to do this stuff all by myself. Now I have collaborators. :)
Pete - Sod off! rotflmao
I liked the second too. Until Fred pointed it out I didn't see the 2 in the first one, and was struggling to make sense of the design, but now that I see it I think it's very clever. Therefore my first impression stands, I find number 2 the strongest and has the most visual impact. Mostly it just appeals to me. Just my 2 cents worth.
.
I like the first one the best Denis.
Don't think that trying to incorporate the number 2 into the graphic really works for me. In most of the examples above I wouldn't have spotted it if I hadn't been looking for it.
Thought I'd try an idea with the Gs reversed.
Hi Gary,
...another 'unsolicited' collaborator: Playing with some visual(s) for the word 'publishing'.
Thanks Gary, I was just playing, if I was any good at this stuff I would have made bundles at 99designs,
which I don`t enter anymore and just use for idea's, on a dry spell. ;)
Excellent Fred
Jim - What would happen if you flopped those two Gs and moved them together. It is not a problem if a logo does not read immediately. If over time people discover something new is it a pleasant surprise that makes the logo more meaningful because now they know the secret.
Looks like we need to have another Logo Design Group Show soon. :)
Not quite sure what you mean by "flopped". Here's the file. Feel free to play around yourself. I've converted the two Gs to shapes, but the font is Dicot Bold for the record.
Attachment 76737
Something more like this, Jim.
Aah... well there you go. I guess you're an "innie" and I'm an "outie".
some more doodles.
So far I like that most recent one from Gary, with the 2 G's facing inwards. It's nicely unambiguous.

More! This has turned addictive.;)
All i see is a horse! lol
Attachment 76792Tried to resist as long as I could.
I sincerely hope whatever the logo turns out to be, it can be depicted in a stereogram within the book.
I had not thought to make it a stereogram, but I might have to make my new logo a contest, since everybody seems to have a better design than mine. :)
Nice designs Fred.
Gary,
I'm sorry, I didn't intend to encourage a 'contest' scenario. I was/am very impressed & intrigued by your clever combination(s) of the '2' and 'G' and my posts were merely offered as possible suggestions; just tossin' out some ideas. In hindsight, I should have sent any offerings as a PM or not made any suggestions at all. Please accept my apology.
Best Regards,
I think everyone likes Gary's logos and likes to make logos themselves, so it Might be a good idea for a logo contest , or Maybe for your next xara artist show Gary you can have a logo show, like you are having now for Cartoons.
I was thinking along those lines, Bruce. ;)
Hmm did G raw take a peek here? ;)
