scenic and a question
I really need to work with Xara much more than I have been to get back into it.
I tried to create a somewhat foggy day and a view from the distance.
try as I may, I couldn't figure out what, if any, foreground would work. So, the question is, does this stand alone or in your opinion does it need a foreground, and if so, what. Eager to hear from you.

Re: scenic and a question
Tim, tricky.
At present, the viewer seems to be in the lake. You would expect ripples from them or a boat.
If there are none, there has to be a jetty.
My best punt is to try and show the shallows:

Apologies for messing up a nice scene.

Re: scenic and a question
Or have a few stylized cat tails in the foreground.

Re: scenic and a question
Egg, 5 stars, Love it brings something in focus in the foreground and along with the shallow water really helps this image. Talkgraphics to the rescue again!!

Re: scenic and a question
There's another consideration for the object in the foreground that this depends on whether or not it is the focal point or just there to add depth to the image.
The object in the foreground could be dark and in silhouette.

Re: scenic and a question
This reminds me of the great days of Talkgraphics when I would post an image and after all the comments and suggestions the image would be so much better.

Yep. And to prove it's real, he's right there in the photo of Lake Eerie.
The unknown low orbiting planet and the trout the size of a submarine passes the reality check, but the guy clearing away the bulrushes is picked on. That's creature profiling, is that.

Taken in June this year using my EOS AD250M. I broke the record for fastest man on Earth just seconds later, but nobody was around to witness it.

Re: scenic and a question
I'm happy to hear but we should ask TimS if your photographed exploits are still useful to his design question. ;-)

Re: scenic and a question
I like how my shallows have been featured in all the fantasia since.

I'm loving all the posts!!!

Re: scenic and a question
I like vibe of your original, Tim. I'm wondering if a simple foreground element, like a pair of swans, or a cloaked figure in a boat, might enhance it...

Another good idea, thanks!!!

The Lady of the Lake would like to ask: What fantasia? Mere mortals are so blinkered.

Or, something like this?
It's not vector, but, could be done.

I really like the fence with that cold monotone look.

Yes Chris, exaliber would be a good addition too ;-)
Rik, really like yours but thought it could have some colour?

Re: scenic and a question
On a serious note. My vote would be either the original, or the Rik/Egg contribution. I like the speck of colour, but find my eyes don't lift higher than the centre of the picture, as the focus is now the fence and Robin. The base of the trees form an unconscious barrier where I stop. So, as much as I like the Robin, I'm throwing the full weight of my uneducated, uncultured opinion to the original.
On the other hand...baby Dragon!
