Fred C What happens when you open other email links in your browser?
Hi Gary,
Check your email: gary@gwpriester.com
When I click on the email link on your page, it asks me what program to use (Windows 10 suggests: Mail).
Using VIVALDI browser.
No Name (home built) computer ... Semi gaming rig.
It opens my g.mail to send message and my browser is Opera.
Stygg
- link opens your test page in a new tab
- Same browser as being used to view link
- iPad (2018 version)
Well then for whatever reason the standard mailto: link is not working as expected? Acorn, Siran, Rob, what is going on here?
Nothing.
If you have an email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc) then if the browser knows to use it then your email link open a new message to you.
Your browser needs to be told what handler to use. This is hidden in the browser Settings.
Webmail handlers, necessarily, need to have you already signed into the account (Gmail, etc).
i would search the web for"browser email handler".
Acorn
Thanks Acorn. Will do.
OK. Most of these search results deal with setting the default in the user's browser.
This is why I have linked to the actual email address instead of using a linked Send email.
