I would go with 11 - that lets you use the OCC without having to renew
Ohh thanks. I'll give that one a try.
Jimi, I have Xara Designer Pro X 11.2.5.42127 DL x64 Dec 9 2015 installed and that has full access to the Online Content Catalogue material.
Do remember to use download all in the Designs Gallery to save its assets to your local Cache.
Xara is offering this for download: https://downloads.xara.com/downloads...rprox11-64.exe.
I do not know which version it will install.
I also have Xara Designer Pro X 12.8.1.50861 DL x64 Jul 24 2017 installed and that is also still nag-free but I think that is because I still have a current licence for version 17 for a few more months.
This link is for Designer Pro X365 (12.4.1) - 64-bit: https://dl.xara.com/designerprox365-64-12.4.1.exe.
I have found v12.8.1 to be one of the more solid versions, if that helps.
Clearly it will eventually nag so I will use it until I have to fall back to v11.

Thanks. I managed to get X11 as handrawn suggested by logging into my account and downloading it from there. I had to type in the serial number manually though as copying and pasting didn't work.
I haven't noticed a great difference in the last few versions. Thankfully X11 has the shadows and highlights brightness in the photo enhancer. I can't think of anything else I need that this version doesn't have. I've never really used the designs gallery or online content.
ver 12 has issues - it was acknowleged by kate - don't think it was ever resolved
glad you got ver 11 up and runninhg
The good news was that according to the Magix website I had both installs left to use. I don't have it active on any other machine that I can recall, but I don't remember ever uninstalling or de-registering it either.
so you are sorted - always good to know ;)
It's telling me there's an update available. I assume that's not actually an X11 update. The installed version is X 11.2.3.40788.
my version of xdpx11 is 11.2.5.42127 DL x64 Dec 9 2015
which version you get depends on when you left the update cycle of course
Did the update. I'm now on 11.2.5.42127 too. Thanks again.
:)
belay that remark re update cycle - ver 11 does not have one, that was rather the point - silly me :D
good to go
I've just been offered the latest version for $89.99. Which is tempting. I use it primarily for web projects these days. I'm wondering if there are any web improvements since V11 that might make it worthwhile. I'm assuming that CMYK PDF exports are the same as they always were. Have the "issues" of V12 (mentioned above) been resolved.
Release notes for version 19: https://www.xara.com/eu/designer-pro/whats-new/
Release notes for earlier versions: https://www.xara.com/eu/designer-pro/whats-new/older/
Thanks. I'm aware of the release notes. I really looking for an opinion TBH.
I can't remember too clearly how XDP 11 (or 12 for that matter) functioned as that is some 7 years ago but I do know a lot of web stuff was added over the years. If you're primarily using XDP for building and maintaining websites, you've read the release notes with all the improvements (and bug fixes) explained, and you think the price is attractive, what stops you? Or else, you could download the trial version and try it out.
Sorry I don't do websites so I can't help you directly on this one
ther certainly have been some changes and improvements to PDF editing [and in my case one regression, no longer able to merge PDF imports onto one page - still have to use ver 15.1 for this]
@handrawn
We used to merge single-page PDFs onto the current page, but we had complaints about that because people expected a new page. So now we always add as a new page. Then you simply cut and paste the content of the new page onto the page you want to merge it to. If that's not good enough? We look forward to your use case to see where another improvement can be made.
thanks matt for picking up on this
what i am saying is that if I want to batch import 20 - 50 seperate PDFs that contain vector drawing asset, I would like them all on the same xara page - that used to be a merge option, it no longer is
now I would have to cut and paste 20-50 pages all into the one page...
maybe if I could select across pages and paste in palce all in one go... but as far as i am aware you can't do that
whilst your current way may be ok for paginated documents, for me as a user of the program for vector art, it removes a valuable way to composite
This has been raised as a ticket with Magix and the last I heard they had submitted it to the development team and were awaiting a response [21 october 2021]
@handrawn - Thanks for the use case and yes engineering is aware of your concern. As of now, there are no plans to change from the current behavior. But they have noted it and it will be considered if/when moe changes are scheduled in this area of the product. For now, cut /paste page by page is the workflow.
thanks Matt, I appreciate the feedback
you will see that having to cut and paste up to fifity times [per composite] in the current version, when you don't need to do it at all in version 15.1, is a regressive step for me personally; and spending a large part of my time in an earlier version meant there was little incentive on me to maintain an annual commitment to pro+ rather than use ver 18/19
I am quite prepared to accept that my sort of work may be [no longer] typical of your target user base, but i am happy to hear that this may be addressed in due course
meanwhile version 15.1 works as well as it always did I am glad to say :)
