can you make 3d images using Xarax1? For eg an images of a piece/wedge of cheese?
I cannot get the triangle to rotate so that it sits horizontally on the layer.
Thanks in advance for any help

Xara itself does not feature 3D tools. But if you can draw 3D on paper with a pencil you can draw 3D on digital canvas using the mouse.
Personally I prefer to use Rhino3D as a 3D modeler and then export the wireframes as *.ai format so I can add fills etc. in Xara.

Some people just don't learn.
Hello vrinda
Xara X(1) is a vector drawing program. So as David has pointed out, you can draw 3D objects using the tools, but aside from bevels, you cannot automatically create 3D objects.
Xara has a product Xara 3D which is an easy to use program that will add 3D to a flat vector shape or type.

This was on topic and helpful. Can you use xara for 3d - Yes. Is it as easy as specially made 3d programs - no. Does it require a little bit of artistic skill - yes.
so there Phfffft. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
john i thin he was talking to me. i deleted my repy to your remark about swiss being white. i appologize for my off topic remrk. withdrawl ya know. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif
Vrinda:
You can simulate 3D by using isometric principles. There are different methods of using Xara to accomplish this.
One would be to use Xara's isometric grid.
From the Menu Bar do the following:
Window > Show Grid
Then, Utilities > Options > Grid&Ruler > Isometric > Apply
Another would involve using some generic vector drawing principles employing the use of trimming, skewing, rotating, and combining lines/curves as described here: http://www.xaraxone.com/guest/guest05/index.htm
Finally, Xara can import .AI and .CMX files. So you can utilize other 2D vector programs which have sophisticatied scripts available (like CorelDRAW or Illustrator) for creating isometrics objects OR 3D programs such as Rhino or SketchUp to produce files which you can then color in Xara.
You'll will have to experiment, however. If you have specific questions concering the Xara tools or importing files from other applications I am pretty sure SOMEONE here in this forum will be able to answer your questions or direct you to another resource.
Hi John,
you forgot to mention Rhino 3D - it does export *.ai files as well - in 3D.
True, Xara is no 3d program, but sometimes just the suggestion of depth with shadow is good enough. - Andrew
