Thought I would post one more this morning before I turn. Another skull of course. Figure if I keep practicing perhaps someday I will be to skulls what Gary is to airplanes.

Sorry folks, what I meant to say was "what Gray is to airplanes".
No disrespect intended Gray.

Not everyone loves a good skull but I enjoy viewing this style. It reminds me of some of the games I've played over the years and the subculture that goes with it. Would make some cool tatoos as well.
Thank you Burpee, I just glad someone enjoys a good skull besides me. I shooting more towards T-shirts, but your right, tats would be cool.
Nice to meet a fellow gamer. Do you have an all time favorite?
I think you have the skull market cornered, Mark. LOL, I get called Gary all the time, I may just change my name and fool everyone. I take my own skull with me wherever I go. I've become quite attached to it.
The two new pieces of work look good, Mark.
Hi Mark,
Nice work! Have you considered drawing your photography items, i.e., dragon fly, spider, etc. in the skull themes?
Yer a man after my own heart. http://www.xaraxone.com/tutorials/apr04/11.html
Heheh, I started out with Alone in the Dark (the original DOS game) and then Tomb Raider. I've played TR1 eight times...my all time favorite. Right now I'm replaying Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. 3rd person action/adventure is my favorite but I've played some very good RPGs too and multitudes of point and click....not to mention 1st person shooters. Strategy is the only genre I don't care to work with. I tried the original Warcraft and gave up early on it. Never went back for more.
Gray. Thanks. LOL, it's good that you do, it keeps your hat from sliding down over you face.
Fred. Glad you think so. I have used my photos as references for a couple of my skull themes. One can be seen in the December Stop and Post. It's the one with the luna moth. I also used one of my photo's for a reference to make the dragonfly poster which is in Novembers Stop and Post. I will post another example of this for you in a separate thread.
Gary. Good to hear from you. Your flying eyeball is awesome, thanks for sharing the link.
Burpee. Believe it or not the game that started it all for me was also Alone in the Dark, though mine was the Windows 98 version. We also have similar taste in games, and many of the Tomb Raider series populate my collection.
I am currently replaying Bioshock. .
Gray. There I go again! I will get the r and the a in their correct positions, really. :) Funny how I always notice right after I post!
Remember, you have time to edit your post rather than posting again.Quote:

Hello Fred,
Here's that example I mentioned, the Pandora Sphinx was referenced from one of my photos. I have a couple more but they are in a format other than Xtreme; my pre-Xara days.

Thanks sledger, I didn't see that before. Can I also delete a post?
Thanks Mark! Very nice work!
I found the dragonfly poster

Excellent job!
Regards,
Nice work Mark.
Bruce and Fred. Thanks guys, your opinions are greatly appreciated.
Hi folks!
Back with some more skull art. You may have noticed that all of my skull art has a black background, the reason for this is that I design them specifically to place on black t-shirts. I like skulls, my study is full of them, along with various other horror movie memorabilia. Mostly Giger's alien.
Anyway.., I decided to start designing shirts to suit my taste. Most of them are just a front design, but some I do with a front and back. Such as this one. Just a little background on my current work in Xara Xtreme.
Although skulls aren't really my thing, i really like the moth. On the black background it looks mysterious... plus the toadstools with their vibrant red tops lift the image off the page...
Awesome designs...so detailed.
I too like the moth very much. I have a luna type moth that pupates in my quince bush every year. They are huge. I like the mushrooms as well. This is one instance where I'm not fond of the skels. You could remove them and put something more natural, like vines or more shrooms.
Nice designs, Mark. As soon as I saw them I said "that's for a black T-shirt". Just seems to fit.
Good stuff, Mark. I like that moth. Of course I could be biased since it has wings.
How about a skeleton with a pair of skeletized bat wings.:)
hrhpaul. Glad you like the moth. Skeletons a definetly not for everyone.
Burpee. Thanks for your input, it is always valuable and will be taken into consideration. I may do just that somewhere down the road.
Gray. Thank you for the suggestion, I see that in my future creations.
Burpee and Gray,
Thanks for stopping by, it's always nice to hear from you both.
I've had a look over your art again and I keep coming back to this one. There was a thread started here for a T-shirt challenge. A template was supplied and artists applied whatever logo/design they came up with. It was quite interesting. I thought it might interest you but I couldn't find it. Your designs are very cool.
I like your style. It kind of like motorcycle art and very much like many of the current t-shirt designs that you see
Hi Burpee. This would be your favorite so far? I have a few more waiting to be posted and a couple in progress, so keep an eye out. Thanks.
a4hire. Thanks, motorcycle art is what I like, but I'm trying to develope my own destintive style, perhaps that will come with time.
Hello folks,
Hope you're not getting tired of skull art, 'cause I have a few more waiting to be posted. This is a design I did for my wife, she wanted to give all her brothers a t-shirt for Christmas and this is what I came up with. Of course I have this one with my brand, the ones for her brothers say New boys (her families name is New) on the front instead of Symmetricus, and ride hard die free on the back instead of world domination.
All four of them ride a Harley.
While skulls and skeletons are not my thing I think the whole thing works together very well. Nicely balanced composition. The toadstools are my favorite part. Good job Mark.
Excellent job again, Mark! Hmmm...you gotta' get a picture of all 4 of them on the Harley; seems crowded. :D
Great design on this one too. I really like the gold and black motifs. I don't know about world domination though, lol. If you're referring to the USA, I wish we'd mind our business for a change.
Some of my best times were on bikes. Nice designs that would go over well with the Harley boys.
Thanks Fred. LOL Funny stuff, poor phrasing on my part.
Burpee I appreciate that. No I'm not referring to the US. I'm referring to my maniacal plan to dominate the world t shirt industry. LOL
Thank you Gray. I'm an SUV/truck kinda guy myself.
Thank you Wizard.
Howdy folks,
Two new XX5 creations to share today. I call the first one Vulcan. This one marks a first for me. I finally used the "shade of another color" and "tint of another color" options. Pretty cool, I can now make the eagle glow whatever color I desire. I like to call this one antifreeze.
The next one is for all those zombie movie fans. If you're not one you won't understand.
Might it not be better to post all skull related images to single thread for show and comment Mark?
Multiple threads of the same topic/theme are generally discouraged.
Not a problem Sledger, consider it done. Can you move all my recent skull posts to the original one?
Also, should I be doing the same thing with my insect photography posts? Don't want to make ripples in the water.
Thanks for your support Mark. Threads merged to parent thread 'Dead Roses' (Title appended Dead Roses and other skull art)
