The 2015 TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
Here is it December already! Wow it seems the year has gone by fast. To kick off the holiday season Gary Bouton has provided us with a lovely Christmas tree to decorate and he's placed a present underneath it. Many thanks Gary! As Gary is busy working on his new site I've agreed to run the thread this year and as Gary did in previous years I'll download your ornaments and place them on the tree and at the end I'll post the .xar for the finished image.
So fire up your imaginations (and your Xara software) and post your ornaments and gifts! I've included a frosted blue ornament to ahem, get the ball rolling :D

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
Thanks for doing this, Frances! Here's a decoration from the UK.........I love postboxes, they're cheerful and iconic. This one is from a photo I took in Bath, Somerset, designed by J W Penfold in about 1866.

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
I love that one Penny, it will look good on the tree and as you say so iconic and is completely different from the usual tree baubles.

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
It's my pleasure to keep this tradition going Penny. I love the post box! Our mail boxes are rather boring looking things. Thanks for posting! keep em coming folks! let's fill that tree up!

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
I'd really like to see someone else create the treetop piece this year, Gary chose my work for two years in a row and I truly appreciate the honour but I'd like for someone else to shine this year so I'm watching the submissions for something for the top.

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
Not usually seasonal but something that should symbolise this time of year in particular. Not an angel, but a white dove of peace for the top of the tree. Peace is something in very short supply in the world today :(

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
Egg the snowman is cute and the dove will be perfect

What a lovely present Stygg. Thanks for sharing!
Here is the current tree. I've added a little something under the tree from me as well. It's coming along but there is still room for plenty more!

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
Keith: That's a generous collection and will be a big help Thank you!
Sadler: Thank you for the beautiful garland. Unfortunately the Jpeg image will take a lot of work to make it useable. Did you do this with a brush? if so could you post the orginal .xar file? or even if you could post a png with alpha of the brush definition object then I can create my own brush.
I hope to have a final image of the tree in the next couple of days.

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
Here's another iconic symbol from the UK. At our house we have a variety of traditional and non-traditional things hanging on our tree, including Elvis Presley and a pair of porcelain Dutch clogs. In fact this year we have a toy lion instead of a star on top, in memory of Cecil (the lion). Best wishes to all.

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
Thank you Jono!
I managed to edit The Christmas garland from sadler and create a brush from a small piece of it so it will appear on the final tree. One way or another even if I have to perform a late night Christmas miracle there will be a lovely image of this year's fully decorated tree posted on the evening of the 22nd (my time)

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
Wonderful thread!
Here are my two cents; a Christmas Tree Peak. There's a divide in Europe between the Germanic and Latin Christmas tree decorations. In the Netherlands we don't use a star as a topper but instead we use the "piek"(peak). It's said that it resembles the apple the elder people of Europe used to decorate the Jul tree. Later on it was replaced with a star that guided the three Kings to Betlehem. I made a christmas ree peak that reflects Gaddesden place.

Re: Annual TG Christmas Tree Decorating Thread
Ok Here it is! I made the ornaments a little bit bigger and dug around in my files and added some ornaments and gift boxes from Christmases past and added a frame and some holly. I couldn't attach the .xar to the forum as it was too big for the forum but I have a download link for anyone wanting the .xar https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...TGtree2015.xar Merry Christmas everyone! And thank you to all those who participated in the tree decorating. Now this tired little elf needs to get some shut eye!
