This is my first attempt at flash animation, I'm going to use this on my website.<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"

<param name="quality" value="high" />
<param name="menu" value="true" />
<EMBED src="flash intro.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" WIDTH="594" HEIGHT="353" NAME="flash intro" ALIGN="" TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.talkgraphics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=46515&d=1205379790">

Re: my very first flash animation
OK I was trying to follow the interactive tutorial (Embedding swf) by Egg, what did I do wrong?
Re: my very first flash animation
Hi Frances,
Egg's instructions were for embedding a flash animation into a webpage on your site.
To have a flash animation display in vBulletin (Talkgraphics forums use the vBulletin software) follow the instruction in the thread

Re: my very first flash animation
Frances there was a typo in the address for the flash file. I edited you post to correct the typo.
I do not see any animation. Is it an animation or a static flash file?

Re: my very first flash animation
There is supposed to be animation. The sun is supposed to rise up from behind the cloud, and Good morning sunshine fades in, then the line humour is the best antidote to reality slides in from the side. It works fine in the Xara preview. Thank you for your patience This is the first time I've ever done this.
I'll post my Xara file.
Re: my very first flash animation
Frances how did you save your animation?
I think in the File Menu you may have selected the Export option rather than Export Animation.
There is also a button on the animation toolbar for exporting a Flash Animation.
That is an excellent first time animation. I love how the sun rises and the text fades in then the bottom text moves in from the side.
They say a third time is the charm. If you have problems I'll be awake for another half hour, then I really need to get some sleep. :D

Re: my very first flash animation
Thank you so very much for your help. I still can't seem to get it to animate inline, but at least when you open the attachment it works fine. Thanks again.
Re: my very first flash animation
Frances,
The reason it wasn't showing inline was that you had included the swf file name into the code. This isn't required, just use the code from the properties alone without the swf filename.
I've edited your post and it now shows in-line.
Could I suggest that the text would be better sliding in from the left. That's the way we read, left to right. The way it is currently the viewer reads it backwards.

Re: my very first flash animation
Thank you Egg, I've changed the bottom text so it now slides in the other way.
It definitely is much better.
Also is there a way to embed a flash animation into an e-mail ? I'm a complete novice at this.
Re: my very first flash animation
Frances I think it would depend on your email client software.
I have never embedded a swf in an email.
I don't see any way that my email server will let me do it.
Re: my very first flash animation
even if you can - thats not to say the recipients email client [program] would accept it - mine would not
Re: my very first flash animation
Thanks guys, I guess if I want to e-mail an animation it would have to be gif?
Thanks Bill, for fixing my post I think I almost had it right this time.
I now have my animation on my webpage here is the link if anyone would like to check it out. http://www.goodmorningsunshineonline.com I did the header graphic, and the large gel buttons with Xara as well
Re: my very first flash animation
Glad to help Frances.
I think you can click the edit button on that post to see the edits I made.
I like your site. One thing though, the image for the link to Adobe Reader does not show. Only the white square with red X place holder shows.
Re: my very first flash animation
Thanks for letting me know about that image on the website. I know I'm getting off topic here but did you happen to check out this weeks issue of our little publication while you where there? It's all done with Xara X pro (execpt for a few ads that were provided to us.
Re: my very first flash animation
Very nice publication Frances. If I lived near there I would visit some of your advertiser's establishments. I also enjoyed the humourous stories. :)
