Well This Was a Pleasant Surprise! FULL WIDTH SLIDER/SLIDSHOW!?
I wanted to use a 'Full Width' slider/slideshow for the banner of this site.
So I immediately went to my WOW Slider... assuming Xara did not have one.
WOW Is pretty good but I just don't like all the steps. (lazy)
Something made me peek into the 'Content Catalog' just to see if... maybe? And bam! Thar it tiz! - a slide widget
that lets you do full width... not very sophisticated but more than good enough for a quick banner...
(I have to dig into the 'content catalog' a little deeper to see what else is lurking around there...)
Just thought I'd mention it for those who may not have known this and might need it at some time...

It lags on the load... I don't know why... or maybe it's just my system...?

I like that a lot Cliff, very slick site.
Just one criticism. Partners / Form Energy logo, please delete the white pixels on the corners ;)

Just to warn you that your images will be hosted by Xara and I have had times when loading them was slow which will effect your SEO. Best method is using local storage, but then again you can get a big bang out of your money by using xbuilder.

I see you won the battle of the Logo, Cliff.
Very slick and smooth looking site.

behzad... the Xara space is only temp...and I'll work out the loading thing and optimization later on. And it's funny you mention 'xbuilder'. Just yesterday I bought the whole enchilada from Michal Jarmoluk - all his templates and all the blocks. His stuff is great and one can 'learn' a lot from him. I had a lot of fun sending about 4 hours going through much of the material... I was happy to see that I know much of what he does... and even happier to see that I don't know very much of what he does...

Hi Chris... yeah, I think I did. They were getting external feedback in favor of 'that' new logo thing that, that 'web guy' did. LOL
But they're taking their sweet time on moving ahead... doesn't matter to me if they complete the job or kill it... why? Because I gots me money for what I did... LOL

Thanks gentlemen!

Nice work Cliff! Which widget name did you use? I am looking for a similar tool.
Thx, -Tom

Re: Well This Was a Pleasant Surprise! FULL WIDTH SLIDER/SLIDSHOW!?
Thx, Cliff... Question: Do I need to use a certain pixel size for the width?

[FYI... I tried "Cover" or "Cover & Stretch" in the Widget settings, but no joy.]

Tom, a quick guess, without checking, would be to select the Placeholder and use Utilities > Web Sticky/Stretchy > Stretch properties: Full width.

Cliff... transparent png graphics I place on top of the slideshow widget are 'ghosting' by taking on the background from the first slideshow image.(See attached images...)
Did you run into this problem? If so, how did you get the logo to be truly transparent?

Utilities > Web Properties > Image > PNG (best for graphics)
Even though you import a png, Xara will change it by default. Jonopen answered this for me on my first ever question at TG.

Thank you! You saved me a lot of time.

Well Tom... I'm glad Chris was able to help you out... I wish I brought up the problem 2 weeks ago because yes... I was having the same problem and it was driving me NUTS!!!
But for some reason, fiddling with the size of the logo and changing position a pixel or two here and there worked it out... and once the problem stop showing a LOCKED IT and
didn't go near it again. LOL And that was the help I was... going to offer because I did not know what was going on... and then came Chris...!
So, I too take Chris' help. Went back into the site applied his instructions and it works like a charm... hhhhhmmmmmm (So far) I'm a Xara pessimist... even though I love the app...
Thanks Chris (again)
Cliff
OK... so what do we take away form this thread? If you're putting an image (even though it's a transparent png over a slideshow) make sure you still go to 'Web Properites' set that image to .png)

Yes!
Also, not just slide shows but anywhere the transparency is overlaying a stretched/full width/fixed background/parallax/plus more that I can't think of. The default is 'Let Xara Decide' and it doesn't decide well in these situations.
Re: Well This Was a Pleasant Surprise! FULL WIDTH SLIDER/SLIDSHOW!?
It seems like it would be a good thing to be able to CHANGE the DEFAULT in OPTIONS for Web Image Type.

Yes Chris.... I'm so glad you mentioned parallax... one of my background images on the site (partners section) was originally had a parallax animation on it... I had to remove it because the above logos were all pickup up part of the background...
Big save Chris... ! Thanks
