I always enjoy the 'stop & post' threads, so I thought I'd start a new one.
My own web sites not been touched for over 2 years so I thought I'd revamp it. Here's part of the background I'm intending to use. Still a 'work in progress' as yet.
For anyone new to these threads, the idea is just to post your 'current work in progress', no matter what state of production.

working on a design for the girls basketball team at my Daughters school. I made a shirt so to show them what they would look like.

Great to see the wide variety of work being undertaken.

Not working on anything today. It's the 30th anniversary of when Mary and I met and I am taking the day off.

Trying to come up with a logo for my website that doesn't exist yet. I can't figure out an easy way to create the chrome border around each individual letter, so that I can adjust the conical fill in the chrome individually for each letter. I really don't want to type and position each letter one at a time, but I guess I'm going to have to do it that way.

A few from me. I was eating an orange this lunchtime, and I became fascinated by the strange juicy "cells" within each segment. That's the Spray program again, with a Mould and some Inset Contour work.

Oh, and that French Horn that "KnightedDuke" did has been bugging me for a while. Here's a version in my style. Not perfect, but it only took an hour.

Hello Ron, I find the easy way to make a chrome borders on the letter is to use a chrome bitmap,I made the letters and then aplly the bit map fill and after that I used the bevel tool to make the borders, here's the end effect.

My first attmept at a sand rail
-
As I waited for the picture to download I thought a "sand rail" was going to be some kind of wading bird. Honestly! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Helpful hint - if you group each pair of wheels with the axle before applying the shadow you'll avoid those overlaps.

albacore, kind of reminds me of a cell phone company here in the states called cingular
-
It's a cute logo, Albacore. But why do modern logos always have to be complex, 3D and shaded? Try foil-blocking, rubber-stamping or even just faxing some recent major-league logos these days (e.g. most UK banks and building societies) and you'll get an unrecognisable splodge. Think simple; think line-art. That's my motto.
-
Albacore,
I wonder what it would look like if the head, hands and feet were more of a droplet shape rather than circles. On the head, it might look like a neck of sorts.

Here is the latest thing I was working on... An ad for a local phone book.
Ummm... Albacore,
I have to agree with Simon on this one. "Keep It Simple St_p_d" (KISS) If it does not look good in 1 color, it really doesn't.
-
Albacore ... I love the logo concept http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/cool.gif ... perhaps a bit more transparency to give the illusion of water.
As far as the one-dimensional logo for everthing theory ... I'm beginning to change my mind on this subject. More and more I am seeing (and being asked to produce) more complex images. I guess you need to be sensitive to the intended use of the artwork.
My two cents.

Just finished the Walther PPK...

Penny, Ron... Looks good to me.
Ron... Only one suggestion... How about a little smoke coming out of the barrel?

The Walther reminded me of a title graphic I did for an article in one of my keyboard e-zines - it was a true story about people fraudulently selling worthless Magnus reed organs on e-bay as valuable vintage combo organs, but written as a spoof of 1940s "hard-boiled" detective yarns.

Penny,
I do wish you would post more as I really enjoy your style.

Beautiful Walther Ron ... I love the finish on the barrel.
Hi Penny ... I agree with Tim, you must post more often. The border fits the invitation very well.
Simon ... what can I say ... you once again captured the essence of your subject in brilliant minimalist fashion.

This is a label I have been working on for a client. All done in Xara except the girl is a bitmap file pasted in.

Very Nice Bruce, I like the Mountains in the background.
Simon... Very cool... smokin' keyboard!

Nice work Everyone!
Not something I've been working on, just a doodle while I'm here at work.
Bruce, is your avatar a recent photo? Man, you cut your hair!
