before I moved to pro+ I used to get irritated by the magix nag screens , until one day I was reminded of the old [spanish?] saying:
'a donkey is best left to bray alone'
so then i just ignored them, yes it's one more click, but some programs require a few to open... and I need to enter three passwords just to log onto windows, which some might think excessive
life is short
[by the way that notification is in regard to renewing update service - is yours out of date?]
Yes, the "Don't show this again" checkbox may as well not be there.
that only works for the current offer; since the offers roll over every few weeks you can never get rid of it for good just by ticking
OK behzad, I am not quite yet in the same position but I have v17 and v18 installed and I have very few remaining days to await the end of my Update Service. Rah!
Which reminds me, I better check the rubbish in my Xara Online account as it will disappear sometime this year.
I assume you too have v17 nagging you as Magix is being really kind to let you know you might be missing out. This is better than never being told as some Customers were never advised of major version jumps in the past.
Here is how I would block the nag.
You cannot right-click it directly to see its Properties but it has a Taskbar presence so right-click on its icon.
My current nag states it is Updater.
Right-click that and then pick Properties.
The Properties dialog declares this is Service_rel_u_x64_vc12.exe running from C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Designer Pro X\17\UPS\.
All I do is change the UPS folder to UPSXXX and no nag.
Magix also have its Download Manager hiding in an Online folder; I OnlineXXX that folder as well.
Clearly you can be more surgical but Magix deserves a sledgehammer action.

Just to be clear: the nag screen for updating to v. 18 shows in XDP 18 with a full year of update service still ahead! So, it's not even possible to update or extend the update service.
It seems to me that Acorn's fix is not advisable in such a situation because any coming updates under the update service will be missed.
Just to add some words about my 'User experience' to this:
My nagging screens started the day the 'Update service' expired (in the begining of december 2020). I never got a "Don't show again" check box. Clicked them away for months, hoping to get a check box when a new version is released.
That hope vanished in march.
Then pulled the plug by blocking Xara with the Windows firewall as one of you nice guys recommended.
No nags since then.
Can't insert 'Font awesome' symbols anymore (along with anything else from the online content catalogue), but "SO WHAT"!
@Acorn you are very helpful as always, but this nag skin is getting skin deep.
In V17.1 an error message 'You need to be online to use this feature' is shown.
That was not the case in V12 I'm quite sure.
If it is important to anyone then download Microsoft's Character Map UWP (https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/ch...ot:overviewtab).
As Xara provides Fontawesome as a TT Font, you can use CharMap and FA with a search term or Unicode to access 704 characters.
You can copy it as a character or save as an SVG and drop onto your page.
I have always found this blocking very petty, which drove me to Xara Pro+.

I successfully blocked the unwelcome Magix intrusion by blocking the aforementioned service exe in my firewall software (Windows10FirewallControl) :D
@Jaydear I can tell your satisfaction from your avatar ;))
I'm a happy chappie. I do like using the parts of XDP that are useful to me, but those darned popups spoil the vibe
You still look happy chappie ;))
As irritating as these things can be, instead of spending lots of effort to stop it it might be a better idea to spend time considering if it really matters at all.
Once you decide this is unimportant and not really any great obstacle then you can get on with life and not waste time wishing software was something that it isn't.
“Lord, grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.”
― Reinhold Niebuhr
and let the [magix] donkey bray...
there is only one asset a person has that he should never waste
it may not be as long as you thinkQuote:
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
(gandalf(tolkein))
'it may not be as long as you think'
Ooo-er, Steve! That sounds rather ominous. Some of us may be a little long in the tooth, but do you know something that the rest of us don't?!

I grew up with revival jazz - I well remember Chris Barber playing E. M. Bartlett's 'just a little while to stay here' in holland park day before yesterday, er maybe not, maybe half a centuary ago.... but ah yes I remember it well...
you tube has it at a different venue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRdKvjG0Wgo
the lyrics [should you want them] are here: http://www.perfessorbill.com/lyrics/lyjstltl.htm
but somehow Mr B and his band never got round to actually singing them :D
