Re: nivo slide show problems
Change the export settings for the image. Right click on the image and go to "web properties". Click on the "Image" tab and under"Web Image Type" tick PNG.
Re: nivo slide show problems
cheers for that, so saving as png from photoshop is not enough you have to do it on webdesigner as well?
Re: nivo slide show problems
Web Designer tries to guess the best format to publish the image in what it considers the best option. It doesn't take notice of the original file type. I think this is due to Xara's method of "create bitmap copy" always being png. It's quite simple to force the image type via the method Dijenga mentions above.
Re: nivo slide show problems
Hi I have done everything as suggested but problem still remains any other suggestions?
Re: nivo slide show problems
Attach your home page ;) Apart from that, delete your index_htm_files folder and republish to ensure you're not loading from cache.
Re: nivo slide show problems
Re: nivo slide show problems
Sorry to be slow, but how do I find the index folder to delete?
Re: nivo slide show problems
Hi rarehare, it depends on whether your exporting your site to your local hard drive or to a server. When you publish it creates the following (and perhaps others):
index.htm
index_htm_files
in the folder you've chosen.
Re: nivo slide show problems
I export to my own hardrive
Re: nivo slide show problems
Then open the file you export it to & delete the index_htm_file folder (you might as well delete the index.htm file as well) and re export and see if it's still giving you this issue.
Re: nivo slide show problems
Hi Egg
I think I am out of my depth here I cannot find the files to delete I just go for 'publish' I have never exported anything so maybe files are on server. can you help me out a bit. Also is it going to be necessary to delete cache every time i make a change ? Thanks for being there F
Re: nivo slide show problems
Hi Egg
JUST found them they are online in my xara account.....got there in the end. So if I delete as above and republish is that ok ?
Re: nivo slide show problems
That's what I suggest rarehare. Often viewing your site in a browser and clicking Ctrl+F5 forces a toal refresh, or even deleting your Clear Recent History / Cache will suffice, just to make sure I often delete the old published files and republish :)
Re: nivo slide show problems
Disaster look what has happened what do I do now ?

Re: nivo slide show problems
Can you attach your xar/web file or place it in a dropbow folder & supply a link?
Re: nivo slide show problems
Re: nivo slide show problems
Don't know why you had issues publishing. There was a problem with your navbar, the mouseover images were quite a bit larger than the mouse-off state. I've reset this.
LINK to Demo.
Here's a link to the amended file. Let me know when you've recieved it and I'll delete it from my dropbox as well as deleting the demo site from my server ;)

Re: nivo slide show problems
I am so grateful thank you cheers Fran
Re: nivo slide show problems
All downloaded so you are free to delete. what actually caused the problem?
Re: nivo slide show problems
All deleted. The only problem I could see was with your navbar. Other than that when I previewed your site, everything else was there, even the navbar buttons, so why you had a problem on publishing your site to the server and ending up with that dogs dinner, I've no idea.
EDIT: Yes your site is looking as expected now ;)
